It is learned from the news coverage of December 3, 2020 that, in Izmir Şakran T Type Prison 30 prisoners are kept in a ward for 14 people, and prisoners are given only 27 beds, the food given to prisoners is very few, and the wards are cold because the heating does not work enough.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 3, 2020 that, in Muğla Seydikemer Prison, 35 prisoners are kept in a ward for 18 people.
(12/060) Detained Co-Mayor, Members and Executives of Political Parties in Şırnak…
On December 1, 2020, 23 people including Cizre co-mayor Berivan Kutlu who was suspended and replaced by a trustee, and members and executives of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) were detained through an investigation against Democratic Society Congress (DTK) in house raids in central, Idil, Cizre, Uludere and Silopi districts of Şırnak. 6 people (Cemil Gün, Fikret Cin, Kadir Kunur, Elfesya Nas, Yakup Tanış, Şemse Kara) are released by the court on judicial control conditions on December 3, 2020. 1 person (Ekrem Şavlı) is arrested on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. It is learned that 9 people are still under custody 7 people were released on judicial control conditions on December 2, 2020.

On December 3, 2020, a representative of The Union of Retired Employees (Emekli-Sen) Marmaris, Kasım Çağlı is detained on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’ in social media posts.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 3, 2020 that, a person named Tahir Yıldırım in Sultanhisar district of Aydın, made an official statement at district security office through the investigation against him on the grounds of “insulting the President” in social media posts. It is stated in the news reports that the President was not mentioned in the social media post.

The case against co-executive editors Eren Keskin and Hüseyin Aykol, and managing editor Reyhan Çapan and journalist Hasan Başak, from Özgür Gündem newspaper which was closed down by a state of emergency decree, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 13 on December 3, 2020. The court adjourned the trial.

The first trial of the case against 19 people, for the press declaration to protest money transfer from the Red Crescent to Ensar Foundation, is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 25 on December 3, 2020.
The indictment demands sentence for 19 people on the charge of ‘violation of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’.
After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to January 22, 2021.

The final trial of the case against a person named M. B., on the charges of ‘provoking the public to hatred and hostility’ and ‘publicly degrading the religious values of a section of the public’ is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 39 on December 3, 2020.
The court sentenced M. B. to 6 months and 7 days and deterred the announcement of the verdict.

The final trial of the case against writer Gulgeş Deryaspi is held at Bitlis Heavy Penal Court No 2 on December 3, 2020. The court sentenced Gulgeş Deryaspi to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
Gulgeş Deryaspi was detained on July 25, 2019 and was arrested by the court on July 30, 2019. He was released at the first trial held on March 31, 2020.

It is learned that 45 members of HDP who participated in the press declaration to protest detention of HDP co-chairs in Osmaniye, are imposed to penalty fine of a total 139,500 Turkish Liras for ‘violation of social distancing rules’.
(12/068) Penalty Fine to Social Media Companies…
On December 3, 20202, the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) imposed a fine of 30 million Turkish Liras on social media companies with more than a million daily visitors, namely Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Periscope and Tiktok, for failing to comply with the new social media law, which requires to open an office and report a legal representative in the country. The Information and Communication Technologies Authority has imposed a fine of 10 million Turkish Liras on November 4, 2020, for the same reason.

On December 3, 2020 that, 13 judges and prosecutors are dismissed from their duties by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors, on the grounds of “having connection, cohesion or affiliation with illegal organisations or structures, formations or groups that are operating against the state”. Dismissed judges and prosecutors are: Bursa Public Prosecutor Mehmet Şakir Karataş, Gaziantep Public Prosecutor Mehmet Aksu, Gaziosmanpaşa district Judge Ahmet Şaldırdak, Kumluca district Judge Gülşah Kavak, Bayburt provincial Judge Havva Nur Fidan, Muş Public Prosecutor Mehmet Emin Bora, Midyat provincial Judge Kübra Tunçay, Bingöl Public Prosecutor Hayati Çetin, Şırnak Public Prosecutor Emrah Çiçek, Eğil district Judge Murat Çiçek, Şile Public Prosecutor Habip Gündüz, Kuşadası Public Prosecutor Ramazan Çevik and Gölbaşı Public Prosecutor Selahattin Yılmaz.

(12/071) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 187 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 6,511 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on December 3, 2020. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 32,381.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 14,316 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 520,167 as of December 3, 2020.
It is learned that 7 health workers (doctor Ahmet Elser, doctor Ahmet Oğuz Tezcanlı and doctor Ferruh İlter in Istanbul, anaesthesia technician Ümit Zan in Hatay, doctor Ahmet Zare in Yalova, emergency medicine specialist Mehmet Karakum in Kocaeli and doctor Mustafa Selek in Izmir) lost their lives due to Covid-19 on December 3, 2020.
