(09/021) Labour Killings…

On September 5, 2021, Worker Health and Worker Safety Council (ISIG) revealed that at least 249 workers including 7 women, 11 children and 14 migrants died while working in August 2021. It is stated in the report that at least 1494 workers lost their lives in the first eight months of 2021.

(09/022) Child Died Due to Being Hit by Armoured Vehicle in Şırnak…

On September 3, 2021, a 7-year-old child Mihraç Miroğlu, lost his life after being hit by an armoured vehicle in Idil district of Şırnak. It is learned that the police officer driving the vehicle was released after statement procedures on September 6, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 4, 2021 that, 2 militants died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in rural areas of Ağrı.

(09/024) Ill Prisoner Lost His Life…

Mehmet Ali Çelebi, a 70-year-old ill prisoner who was released from Ankara Sincan Prison on August 25, 2021 as his health condition deteriorates, lost his life in Istanbul Çam Sakura Hospital on September 4, 2021.

(09/025) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Istanbul…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 4, 2021 that a motorcycle courier was detained by the police choking him in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul.

(09/026) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on September 3, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers, family and tutelary in order to visit him was not responded.

(09/027) Preventions and Interventions Against 1 September International Day of Peace Events…

The Ministry of Interior has banned the public meeting that is to be held on September 5, 2021 as a part of International Day of Peace events in Istanbul, on September 4, 2021. Following the ban decision, Istanbul Governorate’s office withdrew the permission for the meeting at the market area in Bakırköy.

The police intervened the press declaration on Istiklal Street of Beyoğlu district, which was held to protest the ban decision on September 5, 2021. The police detained at least 47 people including 2 children and the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) co-chair Şahin Tümüklü, by using physical violence. Detained people are released after statement procedures on the same day.

(09/028) Detained People in Diyarbakır…

3 of 8 people (Veysi Narin, Fatma Narin and Hatun Dağtaş) who were detained in Yazı rural neighbourhood of Kocaköy district of Diyarbakır on August 26, 2021, are arrested by the court on September 3, 2021. 3 people are released on judicial control conditions. 2 people have been released after statement procedures on August 31, 2021.

(09/029) Detained Musician in Diyarbakır…

Musician Neşet Güçmen is detained through an Urfa based investigation, in a house raid in Diyarbakır on September 3, 2021. The reason of detention is unknown.

(09/030) Former Co-Mayor on Trial…

The trial of the case against Remziye Yaşar, suspended HDP co-mayor of Yüksekova district of Hakkari, is held at Hakkari Heavy Penal Court No 1 on September 3, 2021.

Remziye Yaşar joined the trial via sound and vision system. The court decided to continue detention of Remziye Yaşar and adjourned the trial to October 1, 2021.

Remziye Yaşar was detained on October 15, 2019 and was arrested on October 17, 2019. Ministry of Interior appointed a trustee to Yüksekova on October 19, 2019.

(09/031) October 10 – Ankara Massacre Case…

The trial of the case against Erman Ekici and 16 fugitive defendants, for October 10 – Ankara Massacre, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 4 on September 3, 2021.

It is learned that one witness (Muhammed Kasım) is heard at the trial. The court adjourned the trial to November 24, 2021.

19 defendants have been sentenced to jail sentences on August 3, 2018, at the final trial of the case on October 10 – Ankara Massacre and the case against 16 fugitives was separated.

(09/032) Constitutional Court Decision on Journalist Gökhan Biçici’s Appeal…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 3, 2021 that, the Constitutional Court concluded on individual appeal of journalist Gökhan Biçici who has been subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the police during Gezi Park protests in 2013. The court stated on June 8, 2021 that; prohibition of treatment incompatible with human dignity (Article 17), freedom of expression (Article 26) and freedom of press (Article 28) have been violated. The court decided to send the verdict to Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office for resolving the violations.

(09/033) Investigation Against Chairs of Bar Associations and Journalists…

It is learned from that, Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor’s Office decided non-prosecution on the investigation against Diyarbakır Bar Association’s former chair Cihan Aydın, Mezopotamya News Agency executive editor Ferhat Çelik, Antalya Bar Association chair Polat Balkan, Antep Bar Association chair Bektaş Şarıklı, and lawyer Hanefi Kandemir, which was launched on the charge of ‘making a judge on duty a target for terrorist organisations’.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 5, 2021 that, Ataşehir sub-governorate’s office banned the Foundation Festival of 1 May neighbourhood.

(09/035) Ban of Events in Mardin…

Mardin Governorate’s office made a declaration on September 3, 2021 and banned all demonstrations and open-door public meetings for 15 days as of September 4, 2021.

(09/036) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On September 3, 2021, 18 people are detained in operations covering 10 cities through an Istanbul based investigation and 1 person is detained in Istanbul.

(09/037) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 276 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 22,857 as of September 3, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 278 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 20,033 as of September 4, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 269 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 19,391 as of September 5, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 58,806 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 6,498,084 as of September 5, 2021.
