It is learned from the news coverage of October 31, 2024, that 6 soldiers got wounded when a military armored vehicle rolled into a ravine in the Koçbey village on the Şırnak Cizre highway.

On 30 October 2024, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, elected mayor of the Esenyurt district from the Republican People’s Party (CHP), who was detained in house raids in Istanbul, was arrested by the criminal peace judgeship on the same day on the charge of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’.
(10/351) SOL Party Members Detained for 1 May Celebrations…
On 31 October 2024, 6 members of SOL Party were detained in house raids in Antalya, on the grounds of slogans they chanted during 1 May celebrations. 6 people were released the same day after statement procedures at the police station.
(10/352) Journalists and Others on Trial in Izmir…
The indictment of the Izmir Public Prosecutor’s Office against journalists Cihan Başakçıoğlu, Semra Turan, Tolga Güney, Delal Akyüz and Melike Aydın and Peoples’ Equality and Democratic Party (DEM Party) press worker Funda Akbulut was accepted by Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 13 on 30 October 2024. The indictment demands a sentence for 6 people on the charge of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’. The first hearing of the case will be held on 10 February 2025.
Melike Aydın, Tolga Güney, Delal Akyüz and Funda Akbulut, who were among 6 people detained on 12 February 2024, were released by the Criminal Peace Judgeship on 16 February 2024 on house confinement, Semra Turan and Cihan Başakçıoğlu were released on judicial control conditions.

The trial of the case against 4 people including journalist Buse Söğütlü, for participating in the 21st Feminist Night March in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, on the charges of ‘opposing to Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’, ‘resisting to prevent duty’ and ‘insult’, continued on 30 October 2024 at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 10. The court adjourned the trial to 26 June 2025.

The final hearing of the case against Evren Barış Yavuz, on the grounds of an article on a website and a social media post, was held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23 on 30 October 2024. The court sentenced Evren Barış Yavuz to 1 year and 15 days for ‘publicly disseminating misleading information’ and deferred the announcement of the verdict. The court acquitted him on the charge of ‘insult’ and dismissed the case on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organization’.
Evren Barış Yavuz was arrested on 13 April 2024 and was released at the hearing of the case held on 10 July 2024.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Özer, CHP elected mayor of the Esenyurt district of Istanbul, was dismissed by the Ministry of Interior on 31 October 2024 following his arrest on charges of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ and Can Aksoy, Deputy Governor of Istanbul, was appointed as a trustee in his place.

The Governorate of Urfa announced on 30 October that all outdoor activities (gatherings, marches, press declarations, hunger strikes, sit-in protests, rallies, opening stands, setting up tents, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and posters, etc.) as well as the entrance to the province banned for 2 days as of 31 October 2024.

8 people are detained in house raids in Izmir and Urfa on the allegations of being a member of an illegal organization and making propaganda for an illegal organization in social media posts. The names of the detainees could not be learned.
