(07/193) Trial of a journalist in Istanbul…
The trial of journalist Ercüment Akdeniz, who is facing charges in an investigation targeting the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), began on July 31, 2025, at the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 26. The indictment seeks Ercüment Akdeniz’s punishment for “being a member of an organization.” The court decided to continue Ercüment Akdeniz’s detention and adjourned the trial until October 23, 2025.
Ercüment Akdeniz was arrested on February 22, 2025.
(07/194) Indictment against journalist…
The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against journalist Fatih Altaylı for remarks he made during a social media broadcast was accepted by the Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 26 on July 31, 2025.
The indictment seeks the punishment of Fatih Altaylı for the crime of “threatening the President.” The first hearing of the case will take place on October 3, 2025.
Fatih Altaylı was arrested on June 22, 2025.
