(07/333) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from news coverage of July 31, 2018 that, 2 HPG militants died in a bombardment of security forces in rural areas of Hani district of Diyarbakır on June 18, 2018; 4 HPG militants died in a bombardment of security forces in Gabar mountain in Şırnak on July 3, 2018; 1 militant died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Lice district of Diyarbakır on July 21, 2018; 3 militants died in a clash in rural areas of Nusaybin district of Mardin on July 24, 2018; 2 militants died in a bombardment of security forces in rural areas of Kulp district of Diyarbakır on July 25, 2018.

(07/334) Prevention of Health to Right in Prison…

It is learned from news coverage of July 31, 2018 that, Burhan Güneş, an ill prisoner in Bolu F Type Prison, has been taken to the infirmary only for 4 times in the last 6 months, and has not been transferred to hospital although he was not being treated in the infirmary.

(07/335) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on July 30, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on July 30, 2018, 2 people (Mehmet Dersulu and Gülnaz Bozkurt) and at 18.00 4 people (Gülnaz Bozkurt, Mehmet Dersulu, Mahir Kılıç and İlker Işık) were detained.

Thus in total 6 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on July 30, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

(07/336) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened into the press declaration of public labourers to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, at Bakırköy Square in Istanbul on July 30, 2018; and detained 3 people (Acun Karadağ, Nursel Tanrıverdi, Selvi Polat).

(07/337) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened into the protest of Mahmut Konuk to regain his job from which he had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree, in front of Çankaya Public Health Center on July 30, 2018 and detained Mahmut Konuk.

(07/338) Person Detained in Silopi…

It is learned that 1 person (Azad Uslu) is detained in a house raid in Silopi district of Şırnak on July 30, 2018. It is reported that Azad Uslu is taken to Silopi Police Station however the reason for detention is unknown.

(07/339) Journalist Being Threatened in Şırnak…

It is learned from news coverage of July 31, 2018 that, Özgür Paksoy, reporter of Mezopotamya News Agency, was threatened by people who are related to a person who was mentioned in a news report of Özgür Paksoy about a child abuse case. It is stated in the news reports that, Özgür Paksoy was being threatened on the phone since July 27, 2018, when he reported about a child abuse case in Uludere district of Şırnak. It is learned that Özgür Paksoy is planning to make an official complaint to the prosecutor’s office.

On July 27, 2018, journalist Özgür Paksoy has reported about a sexual abuse of a 14-years-old girl, by 2 specialist sergeants one of which is also son of chief village guard and by their drivers, 2 years ago in Uzungeçit town of Uludere district of Şırnak.

(07/340) Journalist Being Threatened in Ankara…

It is learned from news coverage of July 31, 2018 that, journalist Hale Gönültaş was threatened on the phone because of a news report she revealed about a girl being sold by ISIS in Ankara. It is stated in the news reports that, an anonymous person called Hale Gönültaş and told her address in detail and then said the following: “Jihad will reign in this country. Watch your step!”. Hale Gönültaş’s report on a girl who has been kidnapped from Shingal and sold in Ankara by ISIS was published on July 24, 2018.

(07/341) Prevention of HDP MP from Leaving the Country…

It is learned from news coverage of July 31, 2018 that, HDP Adana MP Tülay Hatimoğulları was prevented from leaving the country at Istanbul Atatürk Airport where she came to depart for a meeting she was invited in Lebanon. Tülay Hatimoğulları made a press declaration on July 30, 2018 in Grand National Assembly of Turkey and stated that, she was invited to ‘The Arab International Forum for Justice for Palestine’ on July 29 and 30, 2018, however, she was told at the airport that her passport was cancelled and was prevented to leave the country. Hatimoğulları explained that her passport has been seized on February 2017, but was returned to her on April 4, 2018 by Hatay Governorate State of Emergency Office upon her objection, however she was told by airport authorities that ‘it may not be updated on the system’.

(07/342) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 50 people who has been detained on July 28, 2018 in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in alleged attempt to flee to Greece, are taken by International Police Department of Turkish Police Directorate on July 30, 2018 to be brought to Turkey.

4 of 9 people who survived the boat disaster on July 28, 2018, in Ayvalık district of Balıkesir, are arrested by Balıkesir Heavy Penal Court No 2 on July 30, 2018. It is reported that 5 people are still under custody. 6 people including 3 babies died and 1 person gone missing in the boat where 16 people were allegedly attempting to flee to Greece.

On July 30, 2018, 21 former police officers who had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees are detained in Bursa. It is learned that a detention warrant is issued for 4 more people.

On July 30, 2018, 10 of 19 former employees of Gazi University, dismissed by state of emergency decrees, for whom a detention warrant was issued, are detained in Ankara.
