(03/254) Suspicious Death of a Gabonese Person in Karabük…
A Gabonese person named Jeannah Danys Dinabongho Ibouaganga who was a student at Karabük University was found dead on March 27, 2023 near Filyos stream at Karabük. It is learnt from news coverage that it was not heart from Jeannah Danys Dinabongho Ibouaganga since March 24, 2023. Karabük Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that in the preliminary report no evidence of physical violence or sexual assault was found.
(03/255) Torture and Other Ill Treatment in Diyarbakır…
It is learnt from news coverage that a person named Şehmus Demir subjected to physical violence of police on March 29, 2023 at a court house in Bismil district of Diyarbakir. It is reported that upon lawyers informing the incident, the prosecutor replied “he was trying to escape.”
The record prepared by the lawyers is as follows: “we witnessed Şehmus Diken who was taken to Bismil Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office shouting “please stop” while he was lying on floor. According to the information we obtained from Şehmus Diken’s uncle, Sehmus, who did not smoke since yesterday, subjected to physical violence when he said to the police that he wanted to smoke. After the physical violence at the corridor, he was taken to a rest room and the violence continued there. When we tried to intervene, a police officer shut the door of the rest room. The person who was subjected to physical violence is 72 percent disabled.”

On March 29, 2023 in Kadıköy rural quarter of Urfa’s Viranşehir district, gendarme intervened with tear gas people who are protesting the solar panels which were planned to be constructed in the quarter. It is learnt that gendarme open fire while intervening. It reported that 9 people were detained on the same day after the intervention. They are released on March 30, 2023. Names of the detainees which were learnt: Sıddık Ayyıldız, Emin Ayyıldız, İsmail Taşkın, Nedim Taşkın, Mehmet Taşkın, Aydın Taşkın ve Naif Taşkın.

The Minister of Family and Social Services made a statement on March 29, 2023 and declared that a total of 1,915 unaccompanied children were registered in the system, 1,766 of them were identified and given to their families, 62 children were in the hospital, 81 children were in the institutions of the ministry, and 35 children could not be identified.

It is learnt from news coverage of March 29,2023 that at Aksaray T Type Prison prisoners with Covid-19 positive were not taken to hospital or infirmary.
It is learnt from news coverage of March 29,2023 that at Denizli T Type Prison ill prisoner Ekim Polat is not receiving treatment.

The trial of the case against former chair of IHD Siirt branch Vetha Aydın Yüksel is held at Siirt Heavy Peal Court No. 1 on March 30, 2023. Vetha Aydın Yüksel and the lawyers participated the trial via SEGBİS. Prosecutor declared his final opinion and wanted Vetha Aydın Yüksel to be sentenced for “being a member of an illegal organisation” 2 times. Court adjourned the trial to June 6, 2023.

The trial of the case against Veli Saçılık for his social media posts about Minister of Interior and Chair of MHP is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 30 on March 29, 2023. Court adjourned the trial to June 6, 2023.
(03/262) Municipality Executive on Trial in Istanbul…
The trial of the case against Yavuz Saltık, head of Local Authorities of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 14 on March 29, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for Yavuz Saltık on the charge of ‘knowingly and willingly aiding an illegal organization without being a member of it’. Court decided to send the case file to the prosecutor to prepare his final opinion and adjourned the trial.
