It is learned that 9 people are detained in house raids in Batman through “Kobanê investigation” on September 29, 2022. The names of detained people learned so far are: Şerif Takak, Hamza Kızılçın, Mehmet Şirin Öngün, Şirin Değer.

On September 30, 2022, 9 people are detained in house raids in Mersin on the grounds of making propaganda for an illegal organisation. The names of detained people learned so far are: Neslihan Oruç, Devrim Aydın, Bayram Çağlar, Selim Ekici, Arif Adalı and Abdülhadi Bozan.

Bedrettin Gündeş, the Head of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Press, Broadcasting and Public Relations Department, who was detained in Mersin on September 28, 2022 is arrested by the court on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on September 29, 2022. It is learned that 21 people who were detained through the same investigation are still under custody.

13 people who were detained in house raids in Mersin on September 27, 2022, in relation to the attack on the Police House in Mezitli district of Mersin which killed 1 police officer; are released by the court on September 29, 2022 provided that 1 of them will be on judicial control conditions.
(09/305) KCK Main Case…
The retrial of the “KCK Main Case” held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 2 against 36 people including the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Mardin MP Pero Dündar and Van MP Tayip Temel, is held on September 29, 2022 as the previous verdicts were overturned. The court rejected the request for end of proceedings against parliamentary members Pero Dündar and Tayip Temel in due to the Article 83 of Turkish Penal Code and adjourned the trial to February 28, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 29, 2022 that, Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against HDP Diyarbakır MP Semra Güzel whose parliamentary immunity was lifted. The indictment demands sentence for Semra Güzel on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

The trial of the case against HDP’s former co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ and former MPs Çağlar Demirel, İdris Baluken, Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Saadet Becerikli, Mehmet Ali Aslan, Ahmet Yıldırım and Altan Tan, for their visit to Silvan during the curfew in 2015 is held at Silvan Penal Court of First Instance on September 30, 2022. The indictment demands sentence on the charge of ‘resisting to prevent public duty’, ‘insulting a public official for their duty’, and ‘insulting the President’. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to January 26, 2023.

The trial of the case against Sur district co-mayor Filiz Buluttekin who was replaced by a trustee, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 4 on September 29, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for Filiz Buluttekin on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’. Filiz Buluttekin attended the trial and made her defence statement. After defence hearings the court decided to release Filiz Buluttekin and adjourned the trial to November 15, 2022. Filiz Buluttekin was detained on March 16, 2022 and was arrested by the court on March 18, 2022.
(09/309) Journalist and Political Party Executives on Trial in Ağrı…
The trial of the case against 5 people, including journalist Aziz Oruç and HDP Doğubayazıt district co-chair Abdullah Ekelek, is held at Ağrı Heavy Penal Court No. 2 on September 29, 2022. The court adjourned the trial to November 23, 2022. Aziz Oruç and Abdullah Ekelek were detained on December 11, 2019, on Ağrı-Doğubayazıt roadway, while İkram Müftüoğlu was detained on the same day in a house raid. Abdullah Ekelek and İkram Müftüoğlu were arrested on December 13, 2019; Aziz Oruç was arrested on December 18, 2019. Abdullah Ekelek and İkram Müftüoğlu were released at the first trial held on July 21, 2020, and Aziz Oruç was released on November 9, 2020.

The trial of the case charging 40 people including journalist Sena Dolar and Enes Sezgin, who were detained by the police intervening the press declaration of dismissed Sinbo workers in Avcılar district of Istanbul on April 27, 2021, with ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’, is held at Istanbul Büyükçekmece Penal Court of First Instance on September 29, 2022. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to February 10, 2023.
(09/311) Gezi/Çarşı Case…
The retrial of the case against 35 people including the Beşiktaş football team fan group Çarşı members, for Gezi Park protests in 2013 is held on September 30, 2022 as the previous acquittal of the local court was overturned. The court adjourned the trial to January 17, 2023.
(09/312) Onur Yaser Can Case…
The first trial of the case against 4 police officers on the charge of ‘counterfeiting official documents’ and ‘damage of an official document’ and against 1 expert on the charge of ‘false statement’, regarding the death of Onur Yaser Can, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 41 on September 30, 2022. Onur Yaser Can was detained in Istanbul in 2010, and killed himself after he was subjected to torture and ill-treatment under custody. It is learned that one of the defendant police officers, H. A., did not attend the trial on the grounds using medication. The defendant police officer Y. B. said “I do not remember” regarding the questions about Onur Yaser Can’s detention, defendant police officer M. O. said “everything I did was in accordance with the procedure” regarding the strip search allegations, and O. Ü. said “I was not there during the search, I have my signature on the report”. Expert Z. K., on the other hand, stated that the CD obtained after the examination on the computers in the police station was destroyed by the order of the prosecutor. The court decided that H. A. be forcibly brought to the next trial, that the expert Z. K. be exempted from the trials and adjourned the trial to December 2, 2022.
(09/313) Correction Officers on Trial in Adana…
The first trial of the case against 5 correction officers (Ç. Ş., H. G., H. C., R. D., Y. M.) on duty in Adana Kürkçüler F Type Prison for the torture against and other ill-treatment of the prisoner named Şehmuz Emen is held at Adana Heavy Penal Court No. 10 on September 29, 2022. The indictment demands sentence for the correction officers on the charge of ‘torture’. Security camera footage of torture and ill-treatment against Şehmuz Emen was featured in the press. After defence hearings, the court adjourned the trial to January 12, 2023.
(09/314) Police Raid to Cultural Center in Istanbul…
The police raided Idil Cultural Center in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on September 29, 2022. It is learned that the police seized some material in the center after an 8-hour search. 5 people (Fırat Kaya, Bergün Varan, Cemil Kurt, Boran Hurustan, Cenk Turan) are detained at the center.
