(09/272) Abducted Person in Ankara…
Ezgi Orak, a member of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Assembly, is abducted by persons who present themselves as police officers, in Çankaya district of Ankara on September 29, 2021. It is stated in the news reports that Ezgi Orak and her 2 friends were stopped by police officers who forcibly took Ezgi Orak into a civil car, on the grounds of a detention warrant after general information check. And it is stated that 2 friends of her who reacted to the police were subjected to physical violence.
It is learned that the police stated that the civil car by which Ezgi Orak was abducted, was not registered.
It is learned after 3 hours that Ezgi Orak was being kept under custody in Anti-Terror Department of Ankara Security Directorate.
(09/273) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of September 29, 2021 that, Alperen Sağır, a 19-year-old prisoner in Kayseri Bünyan T Type Prison No 1, was subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the correction officers. Ismail Bayram, who was recently released from the prison, stated the following to the press: “It was too difficult to communicate with Alperen. Because he was afraid of me, of everybody else in the ward. He was trying to move away when we approached to us and was shaking in fear that we would harm him. He hardly walked for weeks. And when we became closer, he told me the torture. He had a fight with another prisoner, and the correction officers tortured him. They beat him on the soles of feet, and as it was not enough they made him walk on salt.”
It is claimed in the news coverage of September 29, 2021 that, a prisoner who tested positive for Covid-19 was put in the ward of a 60-year-old prisoner, Hamdullah Bayram, in Kayseri Bünyan T Type Prison No 1.
It is learned from the news coverage of September 29, 2021 that, 2 prisoners (İbrahim Tikan and Fırat Yağmekan) were subjected to torture and ill-treatment of the correction officers because they reject surveillance camera installation in the wards and open-door areas in Izmir Kırıklar F Type Prison No 2.

Seyfettin Aldemir, district co-chair of HDP in Seyhan district of Adana, is detained at the Provincial Security Directorate where he went to make his official statement through an investigation against him on September 29, 2021. Seyfettin Aldemir is released after statement procedures on the same day.
(09/275) Diyarbakır Co-Mayor on Trial…
The final trial of the case against Diyarbakır co-mayor Selçuk Mızraklı who was replaced by a trustee, is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 28 on September 29, 2021.
The indictment demands sentence for Selçuk Mızraklı on the charges of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’, in his social media posts and several events he participated in.
Selçuk Mızraklı joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system. After defence hearings the court acquitted Selçuk Mızraklı.

The trial of the case against journalist Nurcan Yalçın, through an investigation against Rosa Women’s Association, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 on September 29, 2021.
The prosecutor declared legal opinion on the case and demanded jail sentence from 8 years and 6 months up to 20 years for Nurcan Yalçın on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’.
The court adjourned the trial to November 22, 2021.

The trial of the case against Figen Ekti, an activist of the Free Women’s Movement (TJA) is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on September 29, 2021.
After witness hearings the court adjourned the trial to December 8, 2021.
(09/278) People on Trial in Istanbul…
The indictment of Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office against Gülsüm Elvan and Sami Elvan, on the charge of ‘insulting the President’ is accepted by Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 43 on September 29, 2021. Gülsüm Elvan and Sami Elvan’s son Berkin Elvan, lost his life after being shot by the gas canister of the police during Gezi Park protests. The first trial of the case will be held on January 20, 2022.
(09/279) Suruç Massacre Case…
The trial of the case on Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 5, for the massacre in Suruç where 33 people died on July 20, 2015, is held on September 29, 2021.
Yakup Şahin, the only arrestee defendant, joined the trial from Urfa T Type Prison via sound and vision system. The court rejected the recusation demand of the complainant lawyers and adjourned the trial to October 22, 2021.

It is learned that 6 news reports about the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Mersin provincial chair and some of his relatives, published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr and https://www.birgun.net websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Mersin Penal Court of Peace No 2 on September 24, 2021.
(09/281) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 227 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 29,386 as of September 29, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 64,264 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 7,100,358 as of September 29, 2021.
On September 29, 2021, pharmacist Cevat Karnapoğlu in Istanbul, lost his life due to Covid-19.
