(03/293) Attack on Future Party Executive in Ankara…

It is learned from the news coverage of March 29, 2022, that Future Party’s Pursaklar District Youth Branch chair Yunus Karakaya was attacked by 5 people outside the district office of the party on March 28, 2022. It has been reported that the attackers threatened Yunus Karakaya by saying, “You will not destroy the Nationalist Movement Party, we will not let you live here, we will not host you here”.

(03/294) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on March 29, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in order to visit him was not responded.

(03/295) Newspaper Distributor Forced to be Police Informant in Diyarbakır…

It is learned from the news coverage of March 29, 2022 that, Besna Daşçi, a distributor of Yeni Yaşam newspaper was forced to be a police informant and was threatened by persons who claim to be police officers in Diyarbakır on March 26, 2022. Besna Daşçi stated the following to the press: “The police asked me what I do for the newspaper and how much I was paid. When I refused to share information, they said ‘We will give you very different troubles’. Then I wanted to leave there but they kept me there for 2 hours.”

It is learned from the news coverage of March 29, 2022 that, a nationalist group attacked the students who wanted to hang a banner at Cebeci campus of Ankara University, to commemorate those who died in Kızıldere; and private security guards intervened afterwards.

The police intervened the press declaration of Şişli Municipality workers in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) on March 29, 2022 and forced people away from the building by using physical violence.

The police intervened the press declaration which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on March 29, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(03/299) Detained People in Van…

On March 20, 2022, 4 people including 1 child have been tortured and detained by the police in Hacıbekir (Xaçort) neighbourhood of İpekyolu district of Van. 3 of them (Yakup Pekel, Muhammed Balıkçı and Civan Şakar) are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘resisting the police’, and 1 child (E. P.) is released on judicial control conditions on March 29, 2022.

(03/300) Detained People in Şırnak…

On March 29, 2022, 2 people (Fikret Şen and Kumri with unknown surname) are detained by the gendarmerie raiding houses in Güçlükonak district of Şırnak. The reason of detention is unknown.

(03/301) Detained Person in Ardahan…

On March 29, 2022, 1 person (Seyfeddin Kaplan) is detained at a police control point in Ardahan. The reason of detention is unknown.

(03/302) Efe Tektekin Case…

The final trial of the case against police officer İ. A., for death of Efe Tektekin (5), due to being hit by an armoured police vehicle in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır on September 11, 2019, is held at Diyarbakır Penal Court of First Instance No 9 on March 29, 2022.

The court acquitted police office İ. A. on the grounds of no intention for the offence.

(03/303) Hazna Sü Case…

The first trial of the case against specialised sergeant B. D., for death of Hazna Sü due to being hit by an armoured police vehicle in Kızıltepe district of Mardin on January 11, 2022, is held at Kızıltepe Penal Court of First Instance No 3 on March 29, 2022. The court rejected to arrest B. D. and adjourned the trial to May 26, 2022.

(03/304) Lawyers on Trial in Urfa…

The final trial of the case against lawyers Hidayet Enmek, Eyüp Sabri Tinaş and Mehmet Emin Uyguner, on the grounds of ‘insulting a public officer’ and ‘resisting to prevent public duty’ is held at Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 4 on March 29, 2022. The court sentenced 3 lawyers to 8 months each on the charge of ‘resisting to prevent public duty’. 3 lawyers have been detained by the police using physical violence during Newroz celebrations in Urfa in 2012.

(03/305) Administrative Fine Decision of the Constitutional Court…

It is learned from the news coverage of March 29, 2022 that, the Constitutional Court finalised its decision on the appeal of people who had been imposed administrative fines for holding a sit-in protest in Tunceli on September 5, 2019 to protest trustee appointment to Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van municipalities. The court ruled that the right to assembly which is guaranteed in the Article 34 of the Constitution was violated.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 29, 2022 that, the Constitutional Court finalised its decision on the appeal of people who had been imposed administrative fines for holding several protests in Mersin on March 16, 19; April 24; May 10, 12, 13, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25; October 12, 15, 16, and 20, 2019. The court ruled that the right to assembly which is guaranteed in the Article 34 of the Constitution was violated.

(03/306) Ban of Event in Rize…

It is learned from the news coverage of March 29, 2022 that, the event to commemorate those who lost their lives in Kızıldere, which was to be held in Fındıklı district of Rize on March 30, 2022, is banned by the sub-governorate’s office.

(03/307) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 63 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 16,190 as of March 29, 2022.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 97,924 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 14,831,231 as of March 29, 2022.

The Ministry of Justice made a declaration on March 29, 2022, and stated that the Covid-19 leave periods of prisoners in open penal institutions or who were entitled to be allocated to open penal institutions and those whose sentences were decided to be executed by applying the measure of probation were extended for 2 months as of March 31, 2022.
