(06/388) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 29, 2020 that 4 militant died in clashes between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Haftanin area of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government between June 19 and June 25, 2020; and 1 HPG militant died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Yüksekova district of Hakkari on June 25, 2020.

(06/389) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 29, 2020 that, in Ağrı Patnos L Type Prison, letters and packages sent to prisoners were given to them with a delay, hand radios of prisoners were seized, social and sports rights of prisoners were restricted, prisoners were not given hot water and the food given was not hygienic.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 29, 2020 that, 19 prisoners are kept in wards for 6 people in Aydın E Type Prison and some prisoners have to sleep on the floors.

(06/390) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Izmir…

The police prevented the “Defence did not and will not silence” march of lawyers from Izmir Bar Association on June 29, 2020, in Alsancak, Izmir, to protest legislative regulation plan about bar associations. It is learned that after police prevention on the grounds of lack of permission through Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No 2911, lawyers had a sit-in protest there.

(06/391) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declarations of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 1329 days to regain their jobs, in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on June 29, 2020 at 13.30 and 18.00 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(06/392) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the protest in front of Çankaya Public Health Directorate on June 29, 2020, who rally to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and forced 1 person (Mahmut Konuk) away from the building by using physical violence.

(06/393) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Düzce…

On June 29, 2020, the police intervened the press declaration of Alev Şahin in order to regain her job from which she was dismissed by a state of emergency decree, in front of Düzce Governorate and detained her. Alev Şahin was released on the same day.

(06/394) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Istanbul…

The police detained 2 people (Sultan Kaya and Hasan Basri Yıldız) who held a press declaration in front of President’s house in Üsküdar district of Istanbul on June 29, 2020, to support lawyers Ebru Timtik and Aytaç Ünsal who are on death fast in prison to demand fair trial.

(06/395) Detentions Through the Investigation Against DTK…

29 of 45 people including journalists, co-mayors, city council members; and executives and members of political parties, associations and unions, who were detained on June 26, 2020 through an investigation against Democratic Society Congress (DTK), are referred to the court on June 29, 2020.

The court decided to arrest 15 people (Peace Mother Makbule Özbek, Mehmet Güngörmüş, Fesih Balbey, Mehmet Cahit Ay, Emrullah Zümrüt, Adil Ercan, Mustafa Alımterin, Tevfik kaçar, Yıldız Damla, Enver Çelik, Erdal Bayram, Fedai Akar, Jiyan Taş, Leyla Bağırtır and Mehmet Cahit Şık) on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’; and released 14 people (Silvan district co-mayor Naşide Toprak, Health and Social Services Employees Union executive Mahfuz Karaaslan, Gönül Oğur, journalist Ayşe Kara, Mehmet Deviren, İbrahim Halil Taş, Mehmet Sağlam, Seher Özgen Aytek, Selva Akkoyun, Suphi İzol, Azad Can, Enver Temiz, Ferhat Erkuş and Gurbet Çakar) on judicial control conditions.

8 of 16 people who were referred to the court on June 28, 2020 have been arrested and 8 of them have been released on judicial control conditions. Thus in total 23 people are arrested through the investigation on DTK while 22 people are released on judicial control conditions.

(06/396) Detained Journalist in Diyarbakır…

The police intervened the commemoration at graveyard for journalist Mazlum Erenci, on June 29, 2020 in Diyarbakır; and detained journalist Zeynel Bulut. It is learned that the police seized photograph of Mazlum Erenci on the grounds that it is ‘propaganda for an illegal organisation’; and did not allow people to stand in homage and say prayers upon the grave. It is reported that Zeynel Bulut is released after statement procedures at the police on June 30, 2020.

(06/397) Investigation Against HDP MP and DTK Co-Chair…

It is learned that Leyla Güven, DTK co-chair and People’s Democratic Party (HDP) MP who has been stripped of MP status; was called by Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor’s Office to give official statement through the investigation on DTK on June 29, 2020.

(06/398) Investigation Against Journalist in Istanbul…

It is learned that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against Mezopotamya News Agency reporter Sadiye Eser for an interview she made in 2019; and that Sadiye Eser gave her official statement on June 29, 2020.

(06/399) Investigation Against a Person…

It is learned from the news coverage of June 29, 2020 that, an investigation is initiated against Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club Council Board member Ali Rıza Dizdar, on the grounds of ‘insult’, for the expression of “son in law” in his declarations after Beşiktaş-Göztepe football match. It is learned that Ali Rıza Dizdar gave his official statement through the investigation.

(06/400) Dargeçit JİTEM Case…

The case against 18 people, for forced disappearance of 8 people including 3 children who were detained in Dargeçit district of Mardin between October 29, 2015 and March 8, 1996; and of special sergeant Bilal Batır, who was alleged to inform families of those disappeared forcefully, is held on Adıyaman Heavy Penal Court No 1 on the charge of ‘intentional killing’ on June 29, 2020.

The court rejected demand of complainant lawyers for arrest of defendants and decided to send the case file to the prosecutor for legal opinion and adjourned the trial to November 2, 2020.

(06/401) Assault to a Political Party Office in Diyarbakır…

It is learned that 6 people are detained on June 29, 2020 in Diyarbakır in relation to the assault to Justice and Development Party (AKP) office in Bismil district of Diyarbakır on June 28, 2020 which caused material damage.

(06/402) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On June 29, 2020, 16 people including teachers who have been dismissed by state of emergency decrees are detained in operations covering 4 cities through a Bursa based investigation.

(06/403) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The final trial of the case against M. A., a former soldier who has been dismissed by a state of emergency decree, is held at Antep Heavy Penal Court No 2 on June 29, 2020. The court sentenced the defendant to 6 years and 3 months for ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

(06/404) Covid-19 Pandemic…

Ministry of Health declared that 18 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 1,374 new Covid-19 cases were diagnosed on June 29, 2020.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 5,115 and total number of confirmed cases is 198,613 as of June 29, 2020.
