12 people who were detained on December 28, 2021 in Antalya, on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’, through an investigation on the meeting of HDP on October 24, 2021, are released by the court on judicial control conditions on December 29, 2021.
(12/284) Investigation Against HDP Co-Chair…
It is learned that Izmir Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against HDP co-chair Pervin Buldan, on the grounds of her expressions at the first trial on December 29, 2021, of the case about the armed assault to HDP’s Izmir provincial office where party member Deniz Poyraz was killed.
(12/285) Deniz Poyraz Case…
On June 17, 2021, Deniz Poyraz was killed in the armed assault to HDP’s Izmir provincial office. The first trial of the case against Onur Gencer, is held at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 6 on December 29, 2021.
The indictment demands heavy life imprisonment and jail sentence up to 7 years for Onur Gencer on the charges of ‘intentional killing’, ‘violation of immunity of residence’ and ‘qualified damage to buildings, premises or moveable property owned or used by a political party, a professional organization having the status of a public institution or a higher federation of such’.
It is learned that the trial was held at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 13 as the former courtroom was not big enough but most of the lawyers and audience were not allowed in the courtroom. It is learned that Onur Gencer used sexual curse words to relatives of Deniz Poyraz, and the court paused the trial, and Onur Gencer was taken back to prison. The court did not hear the complainant lawyers’ declaration due to lack of order and discipline in the courtroom and adjourned the trial to January 24, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 29, 2021 that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued FOX TV, Halk TV and TELE 1 channels with administrative fines.
(12/287) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 142 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 36,684 as of December 29, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 82,059 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 9,402,083 as of December 29, 2021.
