(08/014) Racist Attack on Syrian and Lebanese People in Ankara…
It is learned that members of a Syrian and a Lebanese families were subjected to a racist attack in a park in Altındağ district of Ankara on August 2, 2021. It is learned that the racist group threatened them saying “You dirty Arabs we do not want you here, we will continue beating you in case you do not leave”, as these families speak Arabic.
(08/015) Racist Attack on Kurdish Workers in Antalya…
It is learned that a Kurdish family named Kurğa, staying in Elmalı district of Antalya as seasonal agriculture workers, was subjected to the attack of a racist group saying “You are Kurds, leave our lands”. It is learned that after the attack, the family left the village they have been working.
One relative of the family members stated the following: “Last night a group of racists have raided the house and beaten the residents. The gendarmerie has said ‘We cannot do anything. You should leave here for your safety’ to the family. The racist group have said ‘You are Kurds; we do not want you here. We are giving you time to leave until tomorrow evening. If you do not leave Elmalı tomorrow evening, we will burn you with your family’. And they came today to attack again. They have attacked twice. They are residents of the village but they call themselves ‘greywolves’. The local headman is provoking; he says ‘They will leave here’. And my family left the village by now.”
(08/016) Journalist Abducted and Forced to be a Police Informant in Diyarbakır…
It is learned from the news coverage of August 2, 2021 that, Jinnews Diyarbakır reporter Gülistan Azak was forcibly taken into a car, by 2 people, in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır on July 28, 2021. It is reported that Gülistan Azak was forced to be a police informant, by the persons who represent themselves as intelligence officers in the car; and that she was released afterwards.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 2, 2021 that, personal belongings of prisoners were seized and prisoners were subjected to verbal violence during wards searches in Antalya Elmalı T Type Prison.

It is learned that the appeal made on August 2, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit their client was not responded.
(08/019) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…
The police intervened the sit-in protest in Bakırköy Square of Istanbul on August 2, 2021, organized by public employees to demand their jobs back from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained 1 person (Nursel Tanrıverdi). Nursel Tanrıverdi is released after statement procedures on the same day.
(08/020) Police Intervention to a Protest in Diyarbakır…
The police prevented the press declaration to protest the racist attack in Konya which killed 7 members of Dedeoğulları family on July 30, 2021. The press declaration was organized by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), Democratic Society Congress (DTK), Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Free Women’s Movement (TJA) in Diyarbakır on August 2, 2021. It is learned that the group including parliamentary members held a sit-in protest upon police prevention.
(08/021) Detained Members and Executives of HDP on Their Way to a Protest…
The police have stopped the cars of members and executives of HDP, who were on their way to Esenyurt district of Istanbul to participate in the demonstration to be held as a part of “We are HDP members, we are everywhere” on August 1, 2021, and have detained 15 people. Detained people are released by the court on judicial control conditions on August 2, 2021. Some of the detainees were: Zübeyde İnce, Ali Durgun, Kiyasettin Durmuş, Ahmet İlde, Süleyman Taşçı, İnan Yıldırım, Nurettin Abukan, Muhammet Serhat Kutluay, Müslüm Kılıç.
(08/022) Detained HDP Members After a Protest in Antep…
The police detained 7 members of HDP’s Youth Assembly, on the grounds of a report, following the press declaration in Antep on August 2, 2021, to protest the racist attack in Konya which killed 7 members of Dedeoğulları family on July 30, 2021. 7 people (Ahmet Yıldız, Eray Üçer, Hasan Emre Çelik, Müslüm Şahinsoy, Serhat Karahan, Mustafa Yaşodun and Alper Kulaz) are released after statement procedures at the police on the same day.

On August 2, 2921, 4 people (Mehmet Yalçın, Muhsin Acar and 2 other people) are detained in house raids in Diyarbakır, on the grounds of a police report.
(08/024) Detained HDP Members in Izmir…
On August 2, 2021, 2 members of HDP’s Youth Assembly (Rabia Şevin Sarıbulak and Seyit Güler) are detained in house raids in Izmir.
(08/025) Detained People in Hakkari…
7 people who have been detained in relation to the explosion near a passing by military vehicle in rural areas of Yüksekova district of Hakkari on July 27, 2021; are arrested by the court on the charge of ‘disrupting the unity and integrity of the state’ on August 2, 2021. Arrested people are: Rıfat Ekici, Menderes Ekici ve Memduh Akbaş, Levent Dere, Harun Ortaş, Davut Sarıtaş and Abbas Kırmızıtaş.
(08/026) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 91 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 22,898 as of August 2, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 51,517 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 5,770,833 as of August 2, 2021.
