It is learned from news coverage of April 2, 2018 that 3 militants have died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in rural areas of Diyarbakır on March 29, 2018.
(04/008) Prisoner who Died in Prison…
It is learned that Teoman Gökçe, former member of Supreme Council of Judges and Prosecutors Chamber No 1 who was dismissed by the state of emergency decree and was arrested within “Fethullahist terrorist organization/Parallel state structure investigation” had a heart attack in Sincan Prison on April 2, 2018 and died in hospital.

It is claimed on news coverage of April 2, 2018 that a prisoner named Mehmet Emin Vural from Adana Kürkçüler F Type Prison was put in the same vehicle with another prisoner who was ISIS member and was attacked by this prisoner in the vehicle on March 28, 2018. It is reported in the news that ISIS member prisoner was uncuffed by the wardens and Mehmet Emin Vural was pointed as target to him.
It is learned from news coverage of April 2, 2018 that during a search in Isparta E Type Prison, wardens have found a newspaper clipping which covers HDP former co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş’s “We would better wear burial robe instead of wearing prison uniforms” declaration, under the bed of a prisoner named Cengiz Akkaya and they have insulted Demirtaş and his family and then Cengiz Akkaya who protested this was subjected to physical intervention of wardens. It is reported that Cengiz Akkaya was punished with 11 days of solitary confinement as a result of disciplinary investigation of the incident.

It is learned from news coverage of April 2, 2018 that an ill prisoner named Özlem Demirci could not access to medical examination and check since November 8, 2017 although she should have drug supported MRI once in every 6 months and blood checks once in every 3 months since she has a high risk of cancer.
(04/011) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…
The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on April 2, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.
It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on April 2, 2018 3 people (Nazan Bozkurt, Mehmet Dersulu and Gülnaz Bozkurt) and at 18.00 4 people (Nazan Bozkurt, Mehmet Dersulu, Gülnaz Bozkurt and Acun Karadağ) were detained.
Thus in total 7 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on April 2, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.
(04/0012) Halkevleri (Community Houses) Branches Closed Down in Ankara…
Batıkent, Seyran Umut and Keçiören branches of Halkevleri and Ethem Sarısülük Library in Mamak was closed down by Ankara Governorate on April 1, 2018. On the same day, the police unsealed the Keçiören branch with the reason that it was a mistake and then the workshop room in the branch building was sealed.
On April 2, 2018 the police came to Keçiren branch once again to seal the building completely. It is learned that the police detained 5 members of Halkevi and seized the official minutes’ book. It is also claimed that one of the detainees’ finger was broken. The detainees were released the same day.

DBP Silopi co-chair Bişeng Mete’s vehicle was stopped by the police on his way from Cizre district of Şırnak to İdil district and 4 people in the vehicle were detained on April 2, 2018. It is learned that 4 people were taken to Cizre Police Station but the reason for detainment is not known.

The police busted a wedding feast on street in Narlıdere district of İzmir and detained 2 singers on April 2, 2018. It is reported that the reason for detainment was Kurdish songs and victory signs. 2 detainees were released after statement process in polis station.

The police intervened into stallholders’ demonstration in front of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality building in Konak on April 2, 2018. Stallholders were protesting the closure of Özkanlar street market by municipality. The police used pepper gas and detained 2 people.

12 members of Kurtuluş Party who were detained on April 1, 2018 in Kadıköy district of İstanbul for the commemoration event for Kızıldere massacre are released on juridical control conditions by the court on April 2, 2018.

Hakkari Governorate released a statement on April 3, 2018 and declared that 1 person who was wanted for ‘being an illegal organization member’ was detained on border line of Yeşilova village of Derecik town in Şemdinli district.

6 people including 1 commander, 3 lieutenants and 2 sergeants in operations covering 6 cities through a Bolu based investigation, 15 soldiers on active duty in 38 operations covering 38 cities through a Konya based investigation and 18 people in Ankara through the investigation on Hacettepe Teknokent were detained on April 2, 2018.
(04/019) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…
The final trial of the case on Gaziantep Heavy Penal Court No 8 against former teacher Münir Cengiz who was dismissed by the state of emergency decree is held on April 2, 2018. The court sentenced Münir Cengiz to 11 years and 3 months for ‘being an illegal organization member’ and decided on continuation of detention.
The final trial of the case on Kırşehir Heavy Penal Court against Mehmet Saray, Kırşehir representative of Ufuk Sağlık Sen trade union which was closed down by the state of emergency decree is held on April 2, 2018. The court sentenced Mehmet Saray to 12 years for ‘being an illegal organization member’.

Mersin Governorate released a statement on April 2, 2018, just before ground-breaking ceremony of Akkuyu nuclear power plant on April 2, 2018 and declared that all activities such as press release, opening booths, hunger strike, sit-in protest, commemoration, distributing leaflets, pitching tents etc. in parks, streets and public places and indoor areas are banned all over the city until 19.00 on April 3, 2018. It is also declared that all groups that would come from Mersin and other cities to protest are banned to enter Büyükeceli neighbourhood.

Hakkari Governorate released a statement on April 2, 2018 and declared that meetings, press releases, outdoor and indoor meetings and protests are subject to permission and activities such as sit-in protests, hunger strikes, pitching tents and booths etc. are banned in all over the city for 30 days starting from April 2, 2018 to May 2, 2018.
