It is learned that a village guard named Mustafa Erdem was found dead in his car which was set on fire in Cizre district of Şırnak on June 4, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 3, 2023 that, Azat Taş, a person with 62 per cent mental disability who was arrested on May 26, 2023 through a Mersin based investigation on Çukurova Association of Prisoners’ Families (Çukurova TUAY-DER) was subjected to strip search at the entrance of Mersin Tarsus T Type Prison.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 2, 2023 that, an ill prisoner named Önder Poyraz in Erzurum Dumlu High Security Prison No. 2 was kept in a solitary cell and was not receiving treatment although his right hand was paralyzed.
It is learned from the news coverage of June 3, 2023 that an ill prisoner named Habil Emen in Afyon T Type Closed Prison No. 1 was not receiving treatment for rejecting mouth searches during hospital transfers.

It is learned that the appeal made on June 2, 2023 to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by families and tutelary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in Imralı Prison, in order to visit them was not responded.
(06/032) Police Intervention to Protest in Istanbul…
The police intervened in the press declaration of Saturday Mothers/ People held at the Galatasaray Square of Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on June 3, 2023, and detained 13 people including the Human Rights Association (HRA) chair Eren Keskin and the HRA Istanbul branch chair Gülseren Yoleri and handcuffed them behind their backs. Detained people are released on the same day. Detained people were: Eren Keskin, Gülseren Yoleri, Hanife Yıldız, İrfan Bilgin, Besna Tosun, Ali Ocak, Ali Tosun, Leman Yurtsever, Nazım Dikbaş, Cihan Kaplan, Bilal Yıldız, Aslı Takanay, Hünkar Hüdai Yurtsever and Taylan Bekin.

6 members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Assembly who were detained in Izmir on June 1, 2023, were arrested by the court on the charge of ‘possessing hazardous material without permission’ on June 2, 2023. Arrested people are: Uğur Yıldız, Mustafa Yalçın, Emre Yalçın, Harun Yakaç, Abdurrahim Kaymaz and Özkan Çakal.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 4, 2023 that, the police intervened in a banner held by a person on their house’s window in Ümraniye district of Istanbul, reading “Everywhere is Taksim, everywhere is resistance” for the tenth anniversary of Gezi Park protests; and removed it upon the complaint that “the possibility that the children of the families in the site may read and be impressed”.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 4, 2023 that, the talk of poet Ataol Behramoğlu to be held on June 5, 2023 within at the book fair organized by the Bitlis Education and Promotion Association (BETAV) was cancelled. Ataol Behramoğlu and the event were targeted by some individuals and groups on social media.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 4, 2023 that, the wedding ceremony of Grup Yorum musical band member Bahar Kurt and İleri Kızılaltun to be held at Yaşar Kemal Cultural Center in Sarıyer district of Istanbul on June 4, 2023 was banned by the district governorate’s office.

It is learned that 177 news, articles and social media contents, including the “Evaluation of Two Articles Caused Ethical Controversies in Terms of Research and Publication Ethics During Pandemic” prepared by the Turkish Medical Association (TTB), in which the name of the Deputy Minister of Health is mentioned were banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No. 2 on June 2, 2023.

Şırnak Governorate made a declaration on May 31, 2023 and announced 14 regions (Cudi Mountain, Bestler Dereler, Kurt Mountain, Kureşin, Karaçalı T., Kel Mehmet D., Serin V., 2088 Rk T., Küçük Su Y., Gabar Mountain, Altın Mountain, İncebel Mountain, Oymakaya, Tanin Tanin) in central, Cizre, Silopi, Uludere, Güçlükonak, Beytüşşebap districts as special military security zones between May 31-June 14, 2023.
