(08/009) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…
Governorate of Diyarbakır imposed curfew on 2 August 2016 in 14 villages of Lice and Hazro districts on the grounds of military operations to be conducted in the region. The curfew was lifted on 3 August 2016.
The Governorate imposed on the same day in 8 villages of the abovementioned districts.
2 militants were reportedly killed during an armed clash on 1 August 2016 in the rural area of Hakkari.
The body of YPS- JIN member Pervin Taşçı (Berjîn Amargî) who was killed during the curfew in Cizre district of Şırnak was identified and taken by her family. Pervin Taşçı was buried on 2 August 2016 in Mardin.
The body of YPS member Mehmet Demir (Harın Bakgok) who was also killed in Cizre was identified following DNA tests and taken his family on 2 August 2016.
The body of YPS-JIN member Meryem Bozkurt who was killed in Cizre and buried in Silopi was identified and taken by her family on 3 August 2016.
The body YPS member Şükrü Can (Serxwebun Zagros) who was killed during the clashes in Su district of Diyarbakır was identified following the DNA tetsts and taken by his family on 3 August 2016. His body was found in the ruins of buildings on 21 March 2016 and buried in Malatya.

Syrian homosexual refugee Muhammed Wisam Sankari was reportedly kidnapped after leaving his house in Aksaray quarter of Fatih district in İstanbul. His body was found beheaded on 3 August 2016 in Yenikapı quarter.

Specialist Sergeant Abdullah Dinç was arrested on 2 August 2016 and former Specialist Sergeant Yusuf Bozca, municipality police director for Esenyurt district of İstanbul, was arrested on August 2016 on the allegations of “attempting to overthrow constitutional order”, “being member of Gülenist Movement terror organisation FETÖ/PDY” and “intentional killing”.
They were detained in connection with the investigation concerning the killing of Hrant Dink, editor-in-chief of the daily Agos.
(08/012) Prisoner Beaten…
Former Commander of the Turkish Air Forces Akın Öztürk who allegedly one of the leaders of 15 July Coup d’État Attempt was reportedly beaten by the lawyer Mehmet Sincan İnce on 3 August 2016. Mehmet Sincan İnce reportedly wanted to see Akın Öztürk in prison.
Mehmet Sincan İnce shared his comments on the incident on social media and added that other prisoners, prison guards, and prison administration witnessed the incident.

According to the news appeared in the press, 38 prisoners incarcerated in Van F-type Prison were transferred to Erzurum H-type Prison on 1 August 2016 without their demand.

İbrahim Balta who was among 2 journalists detained in İstanbul was arrested on 2 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

On 4 August 2016, Telecommunication Communication Directorate (TİB) banned access to the new domain of Jin News Agency (JİNHA). The number of the banned domains of JİNHA reached 7.

Associate Professor Candan Badem who suspended from duty by the Tunceli University Rector in connection with proceedings against him was detained on 3 August 2016 on the grounds that a book of Fettullah Gülen was found in his office at the faculty. Candan Badem is known to be Marxist and atheist.
İbrahim Halil Yeşilyurt who was detained in Batman was arrested on 2 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.
The police conducted house raids on 2 August 2016 in Dicle district of Diyarbakır. Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) executive for the district Mustafa Alınteri and municipality worker Azmi Akdağ were detained during the raids.
Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executive for Mardin province Tarık Kaya was detained on 2 August 2016 in Kızıltepe district.
Tarık Kaya was arrested on 3 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.
Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent Mehmet Arslan who was detained during the house raids conducted in Karayazı district of Erzurum was arrested on 2 August 2016 relying on the incident he was following and the photos he took.
Hülya Karakaya, editor-in-chief of the journal Özgür Halk, who was detained in Diyarbakır Airport was arrested on 2 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Worker’s Health and Job Safety Assembly announced on 3 August 2016 that at least 133 workers died in July 2016 during work accidents due to untaken security measures. At least 1049 workers died in first 7 months of 2016.
