It is learned that a person named Mehmet Toker lost his life after being shot by the watchmen on the grounds of ‘disobeying stop warning’ and ‘carrying a gun’ in Meram district of Konya on September 28, 2021.
(09/257) Person Wounded by Police Fire in Batman…
It is learned that a person named Suat Şahin got wounded after being shot by the police, on the grounds that he rejected body search during a general information check in Batman on September 28, 2021. It is reported that Suat Şahin was taken to hospital with handcuffs behind his back although he was wounded by two shots.

It is learned that Emrah Topaloğlu, a member of the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) was abducted by persons who present themselves as police officers and was forced to be a police informant, in Ataşehir district of Istanbul on September 24, 2021.
Emrah Topaloğlu made a press declaration at the Human Rights Association (IHD) Istanbul office and stated the following: “On 24 September, while I was on the 3001th street of 1 Mayıs neighbourhood, I was forcibly taken into a car by persons who claim to be police officers. After getting in the car, they constantly threatened me. They forced me to be a police informant, and said ‘Stop dealing with other stuff, we will provide you a better life. We can provide you a life abroad’. Then they said they knew about my profession and my family, and said they would not let me go, as a threat.”

Gökmen Turna, district chair of the Labour Party (EMEP) in Fındıklı district of Rize, was detained on the grounds of making propaganda for an illegal organisation and insulting the President on social media on September 27, 2021, is released by the court with a ban of leaving the country and on judicial control conditions on the same day.

The trial of the case against the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Batman MP Feleknas Uca, for her declarations in 2015 and 2016, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on September 28, 2021.
The indictment demands sentence for Feleknas Uca on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
The court did not rule on the demand of ending proceedings, for Feleknas Uca is an elected parliamentary member; and adjourned the trial to January 11, 2022.

The trial of the case against Levent Tüzel, former HDP Istanbul MP and former chair of the Labour Party, through an investigation against the Democratic Society Congress (DTK) is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on September 28, 2021. The court adjourned the trial to December 7, 2021.

It is learned that Batman Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation against HDP provincial chair Ömer Kulpu, on the charges of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ and ‘praising offence and offender’ by the expressions “Kurdistan” and “Dear Öcalan” he used in some events. It is learned that Ömer Kulpu made his official statement through the investigation at Batman Provincial Security Directorate on September 28, 2021.

The final trial of the case against Beyza Buldağ, for her social media posts to protest the rector appointment by the President to Boğaziçi University and arrest of students, is held at Izmir Penal Court of First Instance No 41 on September 28, 2021. The court acquitted Beyza Buldağ.
Beyza Buldağ was arrested on February 7, 2021 and was released upon objection on February 12, 2021.

Hakkari Governorate made a declaration on September 28, 2021 and announced that all meetings, open-door assemblies, demonstrations, marches, sit-in protests, human chains, op-ed stands, public sessions, any kind of audio-visual activities with mobile audio-visual vehicles, hunger strikes, opening stands, collecting petitions, flying sky lanterns or balloons, commemorations, concerts, festivals, theatre plays, screening shows, firing torches, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and so on are banned for 15 days as of September 29, 2021. All events are banned in Hakkari for 495 days since June 5, 2020.
Tunceli Governorate made a declaration on September 28, 2021 and announced that all meetings, demonstrations, open door and indoor assemblies, protests, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, opening stands, collecting petitions, concerts, festivals, distributing leaflets, hanging banners, firing and carrying torches, conferences, panel talks and so on are banned for 15 days as of September 29, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 239 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 28,892 as of September 28, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 64,037 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 7,070,972 as of September 28, 2021.
On September 28, 2021, Mustafa Topal, a retired biologist in Ankara, lost his life due to Covid-19.
