It is learned from the news coverage of November 28, 2023, that some political prisoners in prisons across Turkey went on a hunger strike on November 27, 2023, demanding an end to the isolation of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, which will last until February 15, 2024.

22 people who were detained on November 25, 2023, in the Cizre and Silopi districts of Şırnak on November 25, 2023, were released by the court on November 28, 2023, 5 of them on judicial control condition.
(11/243) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The first trial of the case against journalist Remzi Akkaya started on November 28, 2023, at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands Remzi Akkaya be sentenced for ‘being an illegal organization member’. After defences, the court decided to continue the detention of Remzi Akkaya and adjourned the trial to February 6, 2024. Remzi Akkaya was detained on April 25, 2023, and arrested by the court on April 27, 2023.

The final trial of the case against Didar Gül, a member of ‘Mor Dayanışma’, on the grounds of insulting the former Minister of Interior in a press declaration to protest the sentence given to the defendant in the case on Deniz Poyraz’s death in the racist attack to HDP’s Izmir provincial office, was held at Izmir Penal Court of First Instance No 27 on November 28, 2023. The court acquitted Didar Gül.

On November 28, 2023, the hearing of the lawsuit filed by Evrensel Newspaper against the decision of the Press and Advertisement Agency (BİK) not to publish official advertisements in the newspaper was held at Istanbul Administrative Court No 2. After the statements of the lawyers of Evrensel Newspaper and BİK, the court adjourned the hearing to announce its decision later.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 28, 2023, that Kocaeli Public Prosecutor’s Office decided on “non-prosecution” in the investigation on the death of a prisoner named Duygu Koral in Kocaeli Kandıra F Type Prison No 1 on March 20, 2023.
