(11/260) Operations and Attacks…

The Ministry of National Defence announced that 1 soldier (Halil İbrahim Yiğit) who was wounded in a clash during the “Claw-Lock” military operation of the Turkish Armed Forces into the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on November 27, 2022, died on November 28, 2022.

(11/261) Person Died by Police Fire in Antalya…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 29, 2022 that 1 person, whose name could not be learned, died and 2 police officers were injured in the clash that broke out as a result of shooting at the police from a car allegedly “disobeying stop warning” in Manavgat district of Antalya.

(11/262) Bomb Attack in Istanbul…

1 person who were detained in relation to the bomb attack in Istiklal Street of Beyoğlu district in Istanbul killed 6 people including 2 children, and wounded 81 people on November 13, 2022; is arrested by the court on November 28, 2022. The total number of arrestees raised to 25.

17 of 51 people, including Ahlam Albashır, the Syrian citizen who was claimed to be the assaulter who have been detained earlier, were arrested by the court on November 17, 2022, 2 of them were arrested on November 20, 2022 and 5 of them were arrested on November 21, 2022. 5 people were released provided that 3 of them will be on judicial control conditions, and the court has decided to deport 29 people.

(11/263) Torture and Ill-Treatment Under Custody…

The People’s Law Office stated that Gülten Matur, of whom the General Directorate of Security made a declaration that she was detained in Istanbul on November 28, 2022, was actually detained in Gebze district of Kocaeli on November 20, 2022, and was taken to a military zone in Istanbul, where she was subjected to torture and other ill-treatment. In the declaration it is also stated the following regarding the torture and other ill-treatment that Gülten Matur was subjected to: “Our client was detained 8 days ago near a cemetery around Gebze Public Hospital and was taken to a military zone in Istanbul, where she was subjected to beatings, hangings, beatings with batons, and electricity. The torture on our client can even be seen with the naked eye (…) In the forensic examination report prepared today [28 November 2022] about our client, although 8 days have passed, the following was stated :’swelling and bruising on the nose, swelling and bruising in both zygomatic regions, handcuff marks on both wrists, 20×10 cm, 15×10 cm, 10×10 cm ecchymosis in the left leg anterolateral region, 2 different 2×2 cm wounds on the posterior side of the left ankle, 4×4 cm bruise on the front of the left knee, 6×6 cm bruise on the back, 8×8 cm ecchymosis in the right gluteal region, 6×6 cm and 4×4 cm bruises in the anterolateral region of the right leg, 4×5 cm ecchymosis on the left shoulder, 2 different 2×2 cm and one 3×3 cm ecchymosis in the upper part of the left arm, 2×2 cm ecchymosis in the upper part of the left chest, numerous 1×1 cm bruises on the right forearm, numerous 1×1 cm bruises in the abdomen, hyperaemia in the left ear, existing eardrum perforation’.”

(11/264) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 28, 2022 that, 7 prisoners in Ağrı Patnos L Type Prison were transferred to prisons in Erzurum, Erzincan and Tokat under coercion. The names of prisoners could not be learned.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 28, 2022 that, in Denizli T Type Prison the women wards were overcrowded and the food given to prisoners was inadequate and of poor quality.

(11/265) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on November 29, 2022 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.

(11/266) Preventions and Interventions Against 25 November Protests…

7 people who were detained on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ with the banners reading “Women are resisting from Iran to Afghanistan, from Kurdistan to Turkey” as they were participating in the 25 November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women protest held in Ankara on November 25, 2022, are released by the court on judicial control conditions on November 28, 2022.

(11/267) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration which was made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 28, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(11/268) Detained People Through Ankara Based Investigation…

On November 29, 2022, 19 of 50 people, including former HDP co-mayor of Diyadin district of Ağrı, for whom detention warrants were issued through an Ankara based investigation are detained in operations covering 14 cities.

It is learned that Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered a 24-hours lawyer restriction for the detainees.

The names of detainees learned so far are: former Diyadin co-mayor Hazal Aras, Figen Ekti, Mekiye Ormancı, Gülcihan Şimşek, Didar Çeşme, Zekiye Güler, Bedia Akkaya, Women’s Academy member Figen Aras, Sultan Esen, Hatice Güngör, Meral Şimşek and D. A.

(11/269) Detained People Through Balıkesir Based Investigation…

It is learned that 4 people (3 in Balıkesir and 1 in Çanakkale) are detained on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ through a Balıkesir based investigation on November 29, 2022.

(11/270) Detained SGDF Executives and Other People in Eskişehir…

It is learned that 4 of 8 people including the Socialist Youth Associations’ Federation central executive board member Müslüm Koyun, who were detained in house raids in Eskişehir on November 25, 2022 are arrested by the court while 4 of them are released on judicial control conditions.

Arrested people are: Hasan Mansur Uyansız, Müslüm Koyun, Rezan Aras and Mehmet Ali Sönmez.

(11/271) Detained HDP Executives and Other People in Manisa…

It is learned that 7 of 17 people (Fatmanur Budak, Evrim Aldanmaz, Pınar Çetin and 4 others) including HDP Saruhanlı district co-chair Evin Günsel and HDP executives who were detained in house raids in central, Saruhanlı and Alaşehir districts of Manisa on November 28, 2022, are released after statement procedures at the police on November 29, 2022. It is reported that 10 people are still under custody.

(11/272) Detained People in Mersin…

It is learned that 12 of 23 people who were detained on the grounds of ‘being in preparation for an action’ and of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation on social media’, in house raids in the rural neighbourhoods of Tarsus, Toroslar, Akdeniz and Yenişehir districts of Mersin o November 25, 2022, are arrested by the court on November 29, 2022. It is learned that 9 people are arrested on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ and 3 people are arrested on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.

(11/273) Journalists on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The trial of the case against USA-based Vice News reporter Jacop Philip John Gingell Hanrahan and cameraman Philip John Pendlebury, along with translator Mohamed İsmael Rasool and driver Abdurrahman Direkçi, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 8 on May 26, 2022. It is learned that the official statements of the journalists given by rogatory of letters in the UK were added to the case file. The court adjourned the trial to March 28, 2023.

Vice News reporter Jacop Philip John Gıngell Hanrahan and cameraman Philip John Pendlebury, translator Mohamed İsmael Rasool and driver Abdurrahman Direkçi who came to Diyarbakır for a documentary on the curfews in Cizre, Silopi, Nusaybin and Sur districts, have been detained by the police raiding their hotel rooms on August 28, 2015. Journalists and the translator were arrested on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organisation’, and the driver was released. English journalists were deported after being released from prison on September 3, 2015. Iraqi translator was released from prison on January 4, 2016.

(11/274) Suspended Teachers in Diyarbakır…

It is learned from the news coverage November 28, 2022, 4 members of the Education and Science Workers’ Union (Egitim-Sen) Diyarbakır Branch were suspended on the grounds of participating in the press declaration held on November 21, 2022 to protest the Turkish Armed Forces’ “Claw-Sword” air operation against Syria and some regions in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government.

Names of the suspended teachers: Egitim-Sen Diyarbakir No. 1 branch co-chair Emine Akşahin and union members Welat Kaya, Serhat Kılıç, Hasan Çıtrık.
