(05/268) Person Got Injured Due to Hit by Police Armoured Vehicle in Tunceli…

It is learned that a person named Hasan Hüseyin Çimen (60) got heavily injured due to being hit by a police armoured vehicle in Tunceli on May 28, 2018.

(05/269) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from news coverage of May 28, 2018 that 5 political prisoners in Balıkesir Burhaniye T Type Prison were transferred to the warden where members of Alaattin Çakıcı’s criminal organisation stay.

(05/270) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on May 28, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on May 28, 2018, 5 people (Nazan Bozkurt, Gülnaz Bozkurt, Eser Budak, Deniz Yılmaz and Umutcan Aybak) and at 18.00 3 people (Nazan Bozkurt, Gülnaz Bozkurt and Deniz Yılmaz) were detained.

Thus in total 8 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on May 28, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

It is learned that, on May 28, 2018, the police intervened the sellers who organize a protest to demand a new place for public market as a replacement of Bornova Özkanlar public market which was closed previously. It is learned that the police used pepper gas and clubs to intervene and detained some of the protesters.

Ali Engin Demirhan, sendika.org website editor is detained for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organisation’, in Istanbul on May 28, 2018. Ali Engin Demirhan is released after the proceedings at the prosecutor’s office on the same day.

(05/273) ESP (Socialist Party of the Oppressed) Member Detained in Diyarbakır…

It is learned that ESP (Socialist Party of the Oppressed) member İlke Başak Baydar is detained based on a warrant issue on May 28, 2018 and is taken to Diyarbakır Police Headquarters.

(05/274) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

11 of 81 people including military members on active duty, who were detained through an Istanbul based investigation, are arrested by the court on May 28, 2018. 70 people are released on juridical control conditions. With the last arrests, the number of arrested people raised up to 120, and the number of people released on juridical control conditions raised up to 91 through this investigation.

Zeki Güven, former chief of Intelligence Department of Ankara Police, who was detained through an Ankara based investigation and his wife Sevda Güven, former judge, who was detained through a Samsun based investigation on May 22, 2018, are arrested by the court on May 28, 2018.

(05/275) Elections on June 24, 2018…

It is learned that a racist group attacked the campaign vehicle of HDP (Peace and Democracy Party) during electoral campaign in Doğan and Kisecik villages of Antakya district of Hatay on May 28, 2018. It is also learned that HDP Hatay MP candidate Hülya Kavuk was also in the vehicle and the attack caused material damage.

It is learned that Zafer Karakaş (27), a person who was stopped for criminal record check in İzmir on May 28, 2018, is detained for having posts about Selahattin Demirtaş, HDP candidate for Presidency and about 1993 Lice massacre in his phone.

Sadi Güven, chair of Supreme Committee of Elections, made a declaration on May 28, 2018 and announced that the total number of voters related to the ballot boxes which are subject to transfer and consolidation decision of the committee is 144 thousand.

On May 28, 2018, Supreme Committee of Elections decided to consolidate 68 ballot boxes in Bismil, Dicle, Hazro, Kulp, Lice, Hani and Silvan districts of Diyarbakır, and 224 ballot boxes in Gevaş, Gürpınar, Muradiye, Özalp, Saray, Başkale and Bahçesaray districts of Van, upon applications of Diyarbakır and Van governorates.

(04/276) Events in Van are Subjected to Permission…

Van Governorate made a declaration on May 28, 2018 and announced that all events such as meetings, demonstrations, outdoor and indoor public meetings, hanging banners, distributing leaflets etc. are subject to permission, and sit-in protests, hunger strikes, tents and stands are banned for 1 month as of May 29, 2018.
