It is learned from the news coverage that, the number of contractors who were arrested for their responsibility in the buildings collapsed in Antep and Maraş earthquakes is 317 as of March 28, 2023.

It is learned that the appeal made on March 28, 2023 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.

The first trial of the case against journalist Alican Uludağ, on the grounds of ‘insulting a public official’ in a news report about a member of the Council of Judges and Prosecutors, is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No. 67 on March 28, 2023. After defence hearings the court decided to acquit Alican Uludağ.

The first trial of the case against journalist Furkan Karabay, upon the complaint of the President’s lawyers over a news report, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 2 on March 28, 2023. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to September 19, 2023.

The first trial of the case against journalist Merdan Yanardağ, on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’ in a column he wrote for Birgün newspaper, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 2 on March 28, 2023. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to July 18, 2023.

The final trial of the case against the Republican People’s Party (CHP) deputy chair Ali Öztunç, upon the complaint of Cengiz Holding CEO over his statements, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 26 on March 28, 2023. The court rejected the case.

The final trial of the case against Veli Saçılık, on the grounds of ‘publicly degrading Turkish Nation, the Republic of Turkey, and bodies and organs of the state’ in a social media post, is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No. 3 on MArch 28, 2023. The court decided to acquit Veli Saçılık.
(03/253) Yusuf Akın Case…
In the case regarding Yusuf Akın, who died on December 20, 2011 in Nusaybin district of Mardin during military operations, the court has given a verdict of acquittal. As the Constitutional Court has ruled that the right to live was violated, the case was sent to Mardin Heavy Penal Court No. 1 for retrial.
The retrial of the defendant soldiers K. E. O., S. T., B. Y., Y. E. K., D. G. at Mardin Heavy Penal Court No. 1 is held on March 28, 2023. The court rejected the demand for arrest of the defendants, decided to make an exploration at the crime scene on June 2, 2023 and adjourned the trial to June 13, 2023.
