(07/211) Racist Attack in Ankara…
On July 28, 2021, a person named Z. D. and her 5 children have been subjected to racist attack of their neighbours in Elmadağ district of Ankara. It is learned that Z. D. and her family moved from the neighbourhood.
Z. D. stated the following in the news reports: “We were being subjected to racist and sexist curses for the last week in our neighbourhood. (…) Everyone stopped speaking with us when they found out that we are Kurdish. My children sometimes play Kurdish songs when I am at work, and neighbours became disturbed. (…) One of my neighbours, Inci, attacked me, my little son O. D. and my daughter S. D., by sticks. She said ‘Get out of here you Kurds of the East, you are PKK members, we do not want you here in Elmadağ. You are terrorists, go away’. My other neighbours also said ‘We do not want Kurds here, we do not want PKK, get out of here’. Then we called the police. After the police arrived, my neighbour Inci’s two brothers who are around 30 years old, came to attack on us. One of them almost get to my door while the police and several watchmen were trying to hold them back. They were cursing us at this moment, and my son F. D. took a knife to protect me. The police threatened my son, not the ones who came to attack us. The police said ‘Why are you attacking on them? I could have shot you now if I wanted’ to my son.”

It is learned from the news coverage of July 28, 2021 that, a disabled person was subjected to physical violence of the municipal police and was dragged on the ground in front of Zeytinburnu district municipality building in Istanbul.

It is learned that, a person named Turan Aktaş was subjected to physical violence of the municipal police, for protesting Şişli district mayor Muammer Keskin at a public meeting in Maçka Park on July 28, 2021. Turan Aktaş has been dismissed from his job at Şişli municipality, and he has won the claim for unfair dismissal.
(07/214) Threat to Newspaper Deliverer in Mersin…
It is learned from the news coverage of July 28, 2021 that, Resul Demir, a deliverer of Yeni Yaşam newspaper in Mersin, has been threatened by the police twice. It is stated that the police said “You will get in trouble as long as you deliver this newspaper” and “Resul, you had been arrested three times so far. You are not keeping quiet. Do you want to be inquired again and go to the jail one more time?”.
(07/215) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of July 28, 2021 that, 5 prisoners (Mürşit Aslan, Mahsum Temel, Mehmet Salih Eliş, Mahmut Parsak and Hamdullah Hozan) were subjected to torture and ill-treatment in Urfa T Type Prison and that they were not taken to hospital for medical treatment.
It is learned from the news coverage of July 28, 2021 that the prisoners who had been transferred to Manisa Prison from different prisons cannot receive answers to their petitions and they cannot have their friends as visitors as a result.
(07/216) Detained People in Hakkari…
2 people (Levent Dere and Harun Ortaş) are detained in relation to the explosion near a passing by military vehicle in rural areas of Yüksekova district of Hakkari on July 27, 2021. It is learned that the gendarmerie did not allow detainees to see their lawyers despite there was no restriction.
2 people who were called to testimony through the same investigation are released after statement procedures.

It is learned from the news coverage of July 28, 2021 that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued TELE1 TV channel and Bloomberg TV channel with administrative fines, for a news report about President’s health condition and expressions on Turkish Football Federation.

It is learned that https://www.kizilbayrak52.net and https://www.umutgazetesi30.org websites are banned to access on the grounds of “national security and protection of public order” by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No 5 on July 12, 2021.
It is learned that https://www.kizilbayrak53.net and https://www.umutgazetesi31.org websites are banned to access on the grounds of “national security and protection of public order” by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No 5 on July 27, 2021.

The Peoples’ Law Office announced that 89th issue of the Peoples’ School magazine is banned by the court and the police seized copies of the issue at the publishing house and detained 1 person (Yılmaz Viraner) on July 28, 2021.
(07/220) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 76 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 22,291 as of July 28, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 51,124 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 5,660,469 as of July 28, 2021.
