(12/275) Asylum Seekers Died in Izmir…

It is learned that 2 asylum seekers died in a sinking boat near Urla district of Izmir on December 28, 2021.

(12/276) Detained HDP Executive in Edirne…

Zeynep Karaman, former member of the central executive board of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is detained through Kobanê case, in Edirne on December 28, 2021. Zeynep Karaman joined the trial via sound and vision system and the court decided to arrest her.

(12/277) Detained Association Executive in Izmir…

Israfil Erbil, former chair of Britain Federation of Alevi Associations, is detained in Izmir on December 28, 2021, after participating in the commemoration for Maraş Massacre. It is learned that the reason of detention is the speech he made at the commemoration. Israfil Erbil is released on the same day.

(12/278) Detained People in Antalya…

On December 28, 2021, 12 people are detained on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’, through an investigation on the meeting of HDP on October 24, 2021.

(12/279) Detained Person in Şırnak…

On December 28, 2021, 1 person (Hediye Savgun) is detained in a house raid in Güçlükonak district of Şırnak. The reason of detention is unknown.

(12/280) People on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 35 people including journalist Buse Söğütlü, for participating in the Feminist Night March in Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on March 8, 2020; is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 53 on December 29, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for 35 people on the charges of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’, ‘resisting a public officer to prevent duty’ and ‘damage to public property’.

After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to April 28, 2021.

(12/281) Ban of Events in Hakkari…

Hakkari Governorate made a declaration on December 28, 2021 and announced that all meetings, open-door assemblies, demonstrations, marches, sit-in protests, human chains, op-ed stands, public sessions, any kind of audio-visual activities with mobile audio-visual vehicles, hunger strikes, opening stands, collecting petitions, flying sky lanterns or balloons, commemorations, concerts, festivals, theatre plays, screening shows, firing torches, distributing leaflets, hanging banners and so on are banned for 1 day as of December 28, 2021. All events are banned in Hakkari for 571 days since June 5, 2020.

(12/282) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 184 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 32,176 as of December 28, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 81,917 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 9,365,399 as of December 28, 2021.
