It is learned from the news coverage of October 27, 2020 that, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Silopi district co-chair Süleyman Şavluk was threatened by videos showing executions by ISIS, sent to his social media account and his phone.
(10/349) Police Intervention to Environmental Protests in Ordu…
The gendarmerie used pepper spray to intervene the residents of Yeşilkent village of Ünye district of Ordu, who were protesting underground drilling of a mining company at the village on October 27, 2020; and detained 10 people. Detained people are released on the same day. It is learned that at least 2 people were injured due to intervention.
The gendarmerie and the police intervened the residents of the village who were having a sit-in protest at the drilling site on October 28, 2020 and detained at least 20 people by using physical violence.

The police intervened the press declarations which were made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” going on for 1449 days in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on October 27, 2020 at 13.30 and 18.00 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

The final trial of the case against Cumhuriyet newspaper’s reporter Hazal Ocak, for the news reports on Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak’s purchase of lands near the route of Canal Istanbul Project, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on October 27, 2020. The court acquitted Hazal Ocak.

On October 27, 2020, 8 people are detained in operations covering 8 cities through a Konya based investigation; 7 people are detained in operations covering 3 cities through a Kocaeli based investigation; 22 people are detained in operations covering 14 cities through a Tekirdağ based investigation; 15 people are detained in house raids in Balıkesir; 4 people are detained in house raids in Ankara; and 5 people are detained in Edirne in an alleged attempt to illegally cross to Greece.

The final trial of the case against Nazmi Mete Cantürk, an employee of the United States General Consulate in Istanbul, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 27 on October 27, 2020. The court sentenced the defendant to 5 years 2 months and 15 days on the charge of ‘aiding an illegal organisation’.

Ministry of Health declared that 76 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 2,209 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on October 27, 2020.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 9,950 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 366,208 as of October 27, 2020.
