(11/174) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 28, 2025 that, a prisoner was subjected to physical violence of wardens in Kırşehir S Type Prison and was injured in his hand. It is also stated in the news reports that the number of books that prisoners can keep with them is limited to 12, political prisoners are not allowed to benefit from courses and workshops, and it is alleged that the wardens told other prisoners “’These are terrorists, do not talk to them, pour boiling water on them when they are in the air”.

(11/175) Prisoners whose release, adjourned by the decision of Prison Administration and Observation Board…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 27, 2025 that the release of 3 prisoners (Dilek Öz, Süreyya Bulut, Silva Raşıd) in Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison, who have completed the execution of their prison sentences, has been adjourned for 3 months by Prison Administration and Monitoring Board (CİGK). It is also reported that the release of Eylem Özer, a prisoner in the same prison, has been adjourned for 5 months.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 27, 2025 that, the release of Maruf Türkan, a prisoner in Bolu F Type Prison, who has completed the execution of his prison sentence, was adjourned by CIGK for 6 months. Maruf Türkan’s release was adjourned 3 times before.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 27, 2025 that, the release of Doğan Özmen, a prisoner in Istanbul Marmara (Silivri) Prison, who has completed the execution of his prison sentence, has been adjourned by CİGK for 4 months.

It is learned that the press declaration of Confederation of Public Employees’ Trade Unions (KESK) Van Women’s Assembly, which was to be held on November 28, 2025 at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University campus, about Rojin Kabaiş, was prevented by the police preventing union members and executives from entering the campus.

(11/177) Detained People in Istanbul…

It is learned that 13 people including 6 Grup Yorum members were detained in house raids in Istanbul on November 24, 25 and 27, 2025.

The names of detained people are as follows: Turgut Onur, Hüseyin Kütük, Yeliz Kütük, Köksal Taş, Vedat Doğan, Şura Başer, Beyza Gülmen, Can Kaba, Barış Yüksel, Zozan Şengül, Lütfiye Türkoğlu and Zeynel Türkoğlu.

(11/178) Journalist on Trial in Batman…

The trial of the case against Şerife Oruç, reporter of Dicle News Agency (DIHA) which was closed down by a state of emergency decree, on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’ is held at Batman Heavy Penal Court No 2 on November 27, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for Şerife Oruç on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court adjourned the trial to June 16, 2026.

Şerife Oruç was arrested on July 5, 2016 and was released on juridical control conditions at the trial held on July 9, 2018.

(11/179) Journalist on Trial in Diyarbakır

The retrial of the case against journalist Hatice Şahin on Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 continued on November 27, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for Hatice Şahin on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court adjourned the trial to May 5, 2026.

(11/180) Former Party Co-Chair on Trial…

The trial of the case against Selahattin Demirtaş, former co-chair of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), on the grounds of his speeches at events in Ankara, Diyarbakır, Mersin, and Mardin, is held at Mersin Penal Court of First Instance No 14 on November 27, 2025. The indictment demands sentence for Selahattin Demirtaş on the charge of ‘insulting the President’. The court adjourned the trial to January 6, 2026.

(11/181) City Council Members and Municipality Executives on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 10 people (Kartal Deputy Mayor Cemalettin Yüksel, Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Livan Gür, Üsküdar City Council Member Bülent Kaygun, Sancaktepe City Council Member Elif Gül, Fatih City Council Member Güzin Alparslan, Tuzla City Council Member Hasan Özdemir, Adalar City Council Member Nesimi Aday, Şişli City Council Member Sinan Gür, Beyoğlu City Council Member Turabi Şen and a person named İkbal Polat), 9 of whom are arrested, continued on November 27, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 23.

The court released 7 people, decided to continue detention of 2 people (Elif Gül, Turabi Şen) and adjourned the trial to February 18, 2026.

10 people were detained on February 11, 2025 and arrested on February 13, 2025. 1 of those arrested was released at the first hearing of the case held on September 18, 2025.

(11/182) Bar Association Executive on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against Istanbul Bar Association Executive Board Member lawyer Fırat Epözdemir continued on November 27, 2025 at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 24. The indictment demands sentence for Fırat Epözdemir on the charge of ‘being an illegal organization member’. The court adjourned the trial to January 29, 2026.

Lawyer Fırat Epözdemir was detained on January 23, 2025, arrested on January 25, 2025 and was released at the hearing of the case held on May 29, 2025.

(11/183) People on Trial in Istanbul…

The final trial of the case against 87 people for participating in the protests at Saraçhane and Beyazıt Squares in Fatih district of Istanbul to protest detention and arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 62 on November 28, 2025. The court acquitted 87 people on the charge of ‘violating Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’.

In the first hearing of the case, the court decided to separate the cases of 8 journalists and 4 lawyers who were charged through the same investigation.

(11/184) Suruç Massacre Trial…

On November 27, 2025, the trial of the case against fugitive defendants Deniz Büyükçelebi and İlhami Bali, for the bombing attack in Suruç district of Urfa on July 20, 2015 in which 33 people lost their lives, continued at Urfa Heavy Penal Court No 5. The court adjourned the trial to May 8, 2026.

(11/185) Cultural Center Raided by the Police in Istanbul…

It is learned that Idil Cultural Center in Istanbul was raided by the police on November 25, 2025.
