It is learned that the appeal made on June 28, 2024, to the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s family and tutelary along with the families and tutelary of Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.

On June 27, 2024, the trial of the case related to the killing of Ahmet Yıldız on July 15, 2008, by his father because he was gay, continued at Istanbul Anadolu Heavy Penal Court No 5. The court rejected all demands of the lawyers and adjourned the hearing to April 17, 2025.
(06/218) Former Bar Association Chair on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The trial of the case against lawyer Mehmet Emin Aktar, former chair of Diyarbakır Bar Association, for sharing the report on the search of his office, continued on June 28, 2024, at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The indictment demands a sentence for Mehmet Emin Aktar on the charge of ‘targeting people who took part in the fight against terrorism’. The court adjourned the trial to October 3, 2024.

It is learned from the news coverage of June 28, 2024, that lawyer Şüheda Ronahi Çiftçi, executive of the Human Rights Association (IHD) Antalya branch and member of Lawyers’ Association for Freedom (ÖHD), was released from prison on June 28, 2024.
Şüheda Ronahi Çiftçi was arrested on February 23, 2024.
(06/220) Removal of Statements on Discrimination from the Hippocratic Oath…
It is learned from the news coverage of June 28, 2024, that during the reading of the World Medical Association Geneva Declaration known as the ‘Hippocratic Oath’ at the graduation ceremony of Ordu University Faculty of Medicine students, the phrase ‘sexual orientation’ in the declaration, which is related to the principle of non-discrimination in the profession of medicine, was removed from the oath by the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Medicine. It is reported that the graduation cocktail was canceled by the dean’s office and students and their relatives who wanted to have their photos taken inside the faculty building were forced out of the building by private security personnel after the students of the Faculty of Medicine added the phrase ‘sexual orientation’ to the text during the reading of the oath.
