(02/242) Blockade in Doganli, Kuyular and Korukoy…
Emine Gokturk, Turkan Bayhan and Gulbahar Toy, who were detained during the operations in Korukoy and were later released, told the press about the torture they had subjected in custody. They told that men and women were held in the same wards, they were subjected to psychological torture and they were forced to be confessors.
Abdi Aykut, who was detained during the operations in Korukoy and was taken to hospital because of the torture he had been subjected in custody, was taken back to Nusaybin Gendarme Headquarter.
In Doganlı village, where the curfew and the blockade continue, a water shortage broke out because of the damage in water pipes.

According to the news appeared in press on 27 February, 24 prisoners were transferred from Siirt E Type Prison to other prisons against their will and demand. The names of the prisoners and of the prisons they were transferred to are as follows: Abdülaziz Beytekin, Abdülsamet Opan and Ali Demir (Balıkesir L Type Prison); Abdülhakim Ongulu, Abdullah Gündoğdu, Abdurrahim Özbey, Abdulselam Nardan, Adil Topu, Agit Kaysı, Agit Toprak and Ahmet Oysal (Corum L Type Prison); Ahmet Oğuz, Ali Özdemir, Ata Taşçı, Aziz Boday, Burhan Ataca, Cemal Çalabkulu, Delil Çaka, Edip Ongulu and Edip Peltek (Cankiri E Type Prison); Barış Tuncay, Fehim Kına, İlyas Tokay and Mehmet İbek (Bandirma T TypePrison No 1).
According to the news appeared in press on 27 February 2017, the wards of the prisoners were raided by the prison guards 6 times in the last month and during these raids books, pencils, pens, notebooks of the prisoners were taken away.
According to the news appeared in the press, Gulistan Diken was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months imprisonment and was put in Bakirkoy Woman Prison with her 7 months old baby. The application she made to prison administration for the drugs needed for her ill baby was turned down. Also the baby, reportedly, has no cradle.

On 31 January 2017, Worker’s Health and Job Safety Assembly (İSİG) announced that at least 1180 workers died in last 7 months under State of Emergency during work accidents due to untaken security measures.

47 students from Kocaeli University were detained on 27 February 2017 when a group called Turanist Movement Platform attacked the students.

HDP Urfa MP Ibrahim Ayhan was detained on 27 February 2017 at Urfa Airport upon an arrest warrant about him. He was released after he gave his statement to the court.

The Turkey correspondent of Die Welt Deniz Yucel, who was detained on 17 February 2017, was arrested on 27 February 2017 for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization’and ‘inciting people to hatred an enmity.’ Yucel was detained in connection with the investigation about the publishing of the emails of Minister of Energy Berat Albayrak. Journalists Omer Celik, Tunca Ogreten and Mahir Kanaat were also arrested in connection with this investigation.

Engin Karataş, a public employee who was expelled with a Decree with the Force of Law, went into sea on 27 February 2017 with a banner writing “I want my job and bread back” on it. He was detained when he went out of sea.

An investigation was opened by the Bakirkoy Public Prosecutor’s Office about daily Hurriyet for the headline “The Headquarter is Uncomfortable.” Hurriyet’s Ankara representative Hande Fırat was, reportedly, to be called for statement.

Hüseyin Hersek, a board member of a firm which is alleged to be linked with the Fettullah Gulen Organization, was detained on 27 February 2017 in İstanbul.
(02/253) HDP MPs on Trial…
Bakirkoy Penal Court of First Instance No 38 accepted the indictment, which was prepared by Istanbul Head Prosecutor’s office, against HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtas. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘insulting the Head of State.’ The hearings will stated on 5 April 2017.
Tunceli Heavy penal Court started on 24 February 2017 the case against HDP Tunceli MP Alican Onlu. The indictment wants the defendant to be sentenced for ‘making propaganda of an illegal organization.’ Onlu and his lawyer were non present in the hearing. The court ordered the defendant to be forcibly brought before the court.

Diyarbakır heavy penal Court No 8 started on 27 February 2017 the case against Vice news correspondent Jacop Philip John Gingell Hanrahan, cameraman Philipi John Pendlebury, their translator Mohamed Ismael Rasool and their driver Abdurrahman Direkci. After the defenses the court lifted Rasools’s and Direkci’s bans on leaving the country and adjourned the hearing to July 2017.
Vice News correspondent Hanrahan, the cameraman Pendleburt came to Diyarbakir to shoot a documentary about the life under curfew in Cizre, Silopi, Nusaybin and Sur. They were detained on 28 August 2015 together with their translator Rasool and tjheir driver Direkci. The British citizen journalists and the translator was arrested for ‘helping an illegal organization.’ The driver was released. The British journalists were released on 3 September 2015 and were deported. The Iraqi translator was released by the court to be tried without remand on 4 January 2016.

The security forces opened fire to a minibus on 12 July 2015 in Gole district of Ardahan. The persons in the minibus were going to picnic. In the incident, Kamber Markoc (70) was killed and 3 persons were injured. According to the news in press, no crime scene investigation was done.

Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No 29 continued on 20 February 2017 the case against members of House of People Mert Kaya and Devran Sacinti. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for ‘stealing something which is assigned for public service’ and ‘harming public property.’ They were accused because they had carried injured persons to hospitals with police cars after 10 October Massacre. After the defenses court acquitted the defendants.

According to the news appeared in press on 27 February 2017, Mersin Governorate stared an investigation about banners which was placed by CHP Mezitli Municipality for ‘violating the Code on Political Parties.” The banners were removed from private owned billboards.

Belongings of Denge TV and Batman FM were confiscated and were taken to a depot of treasury. Denge TV and Batman FM were closed down with a Decree with the Force of Law.

Mardin Governorate announced on 27 February 2017 an open ended curfew starting 6.30. The Governorate made a second announcement on the same day and lifted the curfew by 16.00.

A bomb blasted on 27 February 2017 between Karpuzlu and Seyfulmuluk quarters of Sur district while a freight train was passing. 8 freight cars derailed. No one was killed or injured.
