(12/264) Armoured Attack on HDP Office in Istanbul…
It is learned that an anonymous person carried an armoured attack on the district office of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Bahçelievler district of Istanbul and injured 2 people on December 28, 2021.
Istanbul Governorate’s Office made a declaration and stated the following: “Receiving a tip at around 13.30 today, we were reported that a suspect going to HDP Bahçelievler district office has threatened district executives and left the office after having a quarrel. Security officers detained the suspect (M. E. S.) and seized 2 blank firing guns and 6 bullets. An administrative investigation is launched.”

It is learned that Uğur Demirbay (24) a prisoner in Istanbul Silivri Open Prison lost his life due to heart attack on December 28, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 27, 2021 that, the heating in wards do not work regularly in Adana Kürkçüler L Type Prison.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 27, 2021 that, prisoners in Izmir Şakran T Type Prison No 1 are given water only 10 minutes a day.
It is claimed in the news coverage of December 27, 2021 that prisoners who want to use their right to have video call with their families are charged 200 Turkish Liras for calls.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 27, 2021 that, 3 prisoners (Mahir Çakır, Şaban Sıdal and İbrahim Tikan) participated in the hunger strike that started on November 28, 2021 to demand an end to right violations in Izmir Kırıklar F Type Prison No 2. The number of prisoners on hunger strike is 11 now.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 27, 2021 that, 4 prisoners (Elif Kardağı, Elif Kaya, Dilan Yıldırım and Zelal Kara) had a three-day hunger strike between December 18 to 21, 2021 to demand an end to right violations in Mersin Tarsus Women’s Prison.

It is learned that the appeal made on December 28, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit him was not responded.
(12/269) Police Intervention to Protests in Ankara and Istanbul…
The police intervened the protest of the Construction Workers’ Union (Inşaat-Iş) members who demand their unpaid overtime work wage in front of the company office in Ankara on December 27, 2021; and detained 4 people including union executive Anıl Deniz Gider. It is learned that detained people are released after being fined in accordance with the Law of Demeanour on the same day.
The police intervened the protest of the Construction Workers’ Union (Inşaat-Iş) members who demand their unpaid overtime work wage in front of the company office in Istanbul on December 27, 2021; and detained 9 people including union chair Neslihan Açar and union executive Kemal Yılmaz. It is learned that detained people are released after statement procedures on the same day.

2 of 20 people (Sebiha Ayaz and Savaş Hazır) including members and executives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) who were detained in house raids in central and Özalp districts of Van on December 24, 2021 are arrested by the court on December 27, 2021. 18 people are released provided that 16 of them are on judicial control conditions.

11 people who were detained on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’, as they were leaving the congress of HDP Youth Assembly in Diyarbakır on December 26, 2021 are released by the court on judicial control conditions on December 27, 2021. Detained people were: Hilal Ada, Hüsamettin Tanrıkulu, Selahattin Sipek, Ferman Dar, Kamuran Kılgı, Azad Taş, Abdulkadir Atal, Baver Yardımcı, Fırat Aslan, Metin Sesigüzel, Bedirhan Akyıldız.

On December 27, 2021, Tevhid Bookstore in Bingöl is raided by the police. It is learned that the police intervened those who protest the raid and 3 people were injured.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 27, 2021 that, lawyer Naim Eminoğlu’s certification was cancelled by Ankara Administrative Court No 23 upon the complaint of the Ministry of Justice, on the grounds of a case against him.
It is learned from the news coverage of December 27, 2021 that, lawyer Doğa İncesu’s certification was cancelled by Ankara Administrative Court on the same ground.

The Ministry of Health declared that 157 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 26,099 as of December 27, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 81,560 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 9,313,085 as of December 27, 2021.
