It is learned that, a civilian attacked the Socialist Refoundation Party (SYKP) members with a knife in front of SYKP district office in Kadıköy district of Istanbul, during the discussion between the police and party members that took place on April 27, 2022, and then the police intervened against the party members using tear gas.

It is learned that the Workers’ Party of Turkey (TIP) members who were distributing leaflets about 1 May in Antep on April 27, 2022, were subjected to physical and verbal attack of a group alleged to be nationalists. It is learned that nobody was injured in the attack.

The police intervened the press declaration of Yasin Keskin, who demands to be reinstated to his job at Çankaya Municipality, outside of municipality building on April 27, 2022 and forced him away from the building by using physical violence.

Kadri Gürel, who was detained by the police on the grounds of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ on April 26, 2022, for he said “If you call Öcalan a terrorist, then you call 40 millions of Kurdish people terrorists too” to the Innovation Party chair Öztürk Yılmaz as he was visiting Batman on April 10, 2022; is released by the court on judicial control conditions on April 27, 2022.
(04/350) The Case Against Former Co-mayor and Former DBP Co-chair…
Malatya Heavy Penal Court No 5 has sentenced Gültan Kışanak, former co-mayor of Diyarbakır, to 14 years and 3 months; and Sebahat Tuncel, former co-chair of Democratic Regions Party (DBP), to 15 years; and Penal Department No 18 of Antep Regional Court has reversed the verdict. On July 2, 2021, the local court has decided to consolidate this case with the Kobanê case at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 22.
It is learned from the news coverage of April 27, 2022 that, the dispute that arose between the two courts after the consolidation decision was resolved by the Penal Department No 5 of the Court of Cassation. The Penal Department No 5 decided to consolidate the case file with the Kobanê Case in terms of the ‘being an illegal organisation member’ charges, and lifted the consolidation decision in terms of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’. The next trial of the case will be held at Malatya Heavy Penal Court No 5 on June 3, 2022.

On April 27, 2022, Izmir Penal Court of Peace decided on the objection to the rejection of the request to investigate the “organized aspect” within the case against Onur Gencer at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 6, regarding the death of Deniz Poyraz in the armed attack against HDP Izmir office on June 17, 2021. The court decided to reject the objection on the grounds that “the evidence has been gathered sufficiently, there is no wrongdoing in the evaluation of the evidence, the reasoning is considered to be appropriate and appropriate within the scope of the file, and the decision that there is no need for additional prosecution is in accordance with the procedure and the law”.
(04/352) Teachers Penalized for Their Union Activities in Aydın…
It is learned from the news coverage of April 28, 2022, that, the Education and Science Workers’ Union (Egitim-Sen) Didim district representative Belkıs Kahraman, organizing secretary Gülay Sezer and financial secretary Emine Olcay were sentenced to reprimand and relocation, as a result of investigation based on CIMER (Presidential Communication Center) complaints about their union activities. It is learned that, 3 people are investigated for “behaving in a way that is incompatible with the teaching profession” on the grounds that they participated in the press releases regarding the Istanbul Convention and the “We Cannot Live on” protests organized by KESK.

The Ministry of Health declared that 16 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 2,479 as of April 27, 2022.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 98,736 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 15,026,141 as of April 27, 2022.
