(04/274) Operations and Attacks…

It is learned from the news coverage of April 27, 2021 that, 4 HPG militants died in a clash with Turkish Armed Forces in Avaşin area of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on April 23, 2021.

(04/275) Person Subjected to Physical Violence of Police in Bingöl…

It is learned that a person (Mücahit Karabulak) was subjected to physical violence of the police who were to detain him in Karlıova district of Bingöl on April 27, 2021.

(04/276) Newspaper Employee Forced to be Police Informant in Diyarbakır…

It is learned from the news coverage of April 27, 2021 that, Mehmet Bağırtan, a distributor of Yeni Yaşam newspaper was forcibly brought to a car park at a shopping mall in Diyarbakır, by persons who are reported to be undercover police officers and was forced to be a police informant. It is reported that Mehmet Bağırtan was released after the newspapers he carried with were seized by these persons.

It is learned that the appeal made on April 27, 2021 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyers in order to visit their client was not responded.

(04/278) Preventions and Interventions Against 1 May International Labour Day Events…

The police intervened the press declaration against ban of 1 May International Labour Day events, organized by dismissed workers of Sinbo and SML Labelling companies, held in Avcılar district of Istanbul on April 27 and detained 33 people including 3 journalists (Mezopotamya News Agency reporter Muhammet Enes, Jinnews reporter Sena Dolar and Kızılbayrak reporter Kardelen Yoğungan). Detained people are released after statement procedures on the same day. It is learned from the news reports that detained people were subjected to physical violence of the police after medical examination at Beylikdüzü Public Hospital. It is stated in the news reports that health workers at the emergency unit were also subjected to verbal and physical violence of the police.

The police prevented the press declaration on 1 May International Labour Day, of Tuzluçayır Women’s Solidarity Association held at Kartaltepe Park in Mamak district of Ankara on April 27, 2021. It is learned that the press declaration was then held in front of the association office.

(04/279) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened the “I Want My Job Back” protest in front of Republican People’s Party (CHP) Istanbul office on April 26, 2021 and detained 2 people (Turan Aktaş and Türkan Albayrak). Detained people are released after statement procedures on the same day.

(04/280) Detained People in Manisa…

On April 27, 2021, 6 people (Dicle Aslan, Mehmet Aslan, Memduh Ektiren, Muhammed Latif Şanlı, Mehmet Ali Demir and Damla Kansız) are detained in house raids in Manisa. The reason of detention is unknown.

(04/281) Journalists and Other People on Trial in Mardin…

The first trial of the case against 8 people including 5 journalists (Rojda Aydın, Halime Parlak, Nurcan Yalçın, Ahmet Kanbal and Mehmet Şah Oruç) is held at Mardin Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on April 27, 2021. 8 people were detained in the police intervention to protests against trustee appointment to Mardin Municipality, on August 20, 2019.

After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to October 13, 2021.

(04/282) Threat Against Parliamentary Member…

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Garo Paylan who has shared a social media post about the Armenian Genocide, is threatened by independent Istanbul MP Ümit Özdağ, who stated the following on social media on April 27, 2021: “Go to hell if you are not pleased. Talaat Pasha did not exile patriotic Armenians but those who stabbed in the back like you. You will and must have a Talaat Pasha experience in due time”.

It is learned from the news reports that a criminal report was filed against Ümit Özdağ on the charges of provoking hatred and hostility among people and discrimination.

On April 27, 2021, 10 people are detained in Ankara through the investigation on police deputy chief exam held in 2005.

(04/273) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 346 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 2,703 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on April 27, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 43,301.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 39,057 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 4,710,582 as of April 27, 2021.

On April 27, 2021, doctor Yaşar Atik in Sakarya lost his life from Covid-19.
