On November 26, 2026, private security units intervened in the event titled “Modern Threat to the Family: Homosexual Orientation” organized by the Young Thought Club and the Ministry of Youth and Sports at Istanbul University: Homosexual Orientation” organized by Young Thought Club and Ministry of Youth and Sports at Istanbul University on November 26, 2026. It is learned that no one was detained during the intervention.

The final trial of the case against 8 journalists (Zeynep Kuray, Hayri Tunç, Gökhan Kam, Emre Orman, Ali Onur Tosun, Kurtuluş Arı, Bülent Kılıç, Yasin Akgül) and 4 other people who were detained on the grounds of protests against the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu is held at İstanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No 62 on November 27, 2025. The court acquitted 12 people on the charge of ‘opposing to Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’.

The first trial of the case against journalists Elfazi Toral, Sema Korkmaz and former DEM Party Youth Assembly co-spokesperson Edanur Baydoğan, who were detained during police intervention against a press declaration in front of Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Istanbul Provincial Office, started on November 27, 2025 at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No 25. The indictment demands sentence for the journalists on the charge of ‘violating Law No 2911 on Meetings and Demonstrations’. The court adjourned the trial to April 14, 2026.

On November 26, 2026, Istanbul University organized an event titled “Modern Threat to the Family: Homosexual Orientation” in cooperation with the Young Thought Club and the Ministry of Youth and Sports: Homosexual Orientation” was organized at Istanbul University.
