It is learned that a police vehicle collided with another vehicle in Ağlasun district of Burdur on January 27, 2023, and a person named Muhammet Demirci died, while 2 people including 1 police officer were injured.

It is learned that the appeal made on January 26, 2023 to chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by the lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, in order to visit him was not responded.

The trial of the case against HDP’s former co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ and former MPs Çağlar Demirel, İdris Baluken, Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Saadet Becerikli, Mehmet Ali Aslan, Ahmet Yıldırım and Altan Tan, for their visit to Silvan during the curfew in 2015 is held at Silvan Penal Court of First Instance on January 26, 2023. The indictment demands sentence on the charge of ‘resisting to prevent public duty’, ‘insulting a public official for their duty’, and ‘insulting the President’. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to May 25, 2023.

The trial of the case against Saturday Mother Hanife Yıldız, on the grounds of her speech about the Interior Minister at the press declaration in front of Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul on May 17, 2022, as a part of the Week of Disappearances; is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 48 on January 26, 2023. Hanife Yıldız was detained by the police after the press statement. The indictment demands sentence for Hanife Yıldız on the charge of ‘insulting a public official due to their duty’. The court decided to send the video footage to an expert and adjourned the trial to March 23, 2023.

The first trial of the case against writer Ataol Behramoğlu, on the grounds of ‘insulting the President’ in his expressions on a television programme, is held at Istanbul Bakırköy Penal Court of First Instance on January 26, 2023. After defence hearings, the court decided to acquit Ataol Behramoğlu.

The trial of the 3 fugitive defendants (Eren Ceylan, Murat Sonkur and Murat Karataş) whose files were separated in the Sivas Massacre case is held at Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 1 on January 26, 2023. The court decided to continue the arrest warrant for the three defendants, to accept intervention demands of the Pir Sultan Abdal Cultural Association and Ankara Bar Association Social Cases Center, and adjourned the trial to May 11, 2023.

It is learned that the news reports about the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Izmir MP Murat Bakan’s declarations on religious sects, published on https://halktv.com.tr and https://www.gercekgundem.com are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No. 7 on January 25, 2023.
The website of Yeni Yaşam newspaper http://yeniyasamgazetesi3.com/ is banned to access by Zonguldak Penal Court of Peace on January 26, 2023. The reason for ban could not be learned.
