It is learned that a village guard (Abdullah Aydemir) on duty in Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government died from heart attack on February 28, 2021.

It is learned that a woman (Z. A.) was subjected to physical violence of the gendarmerie during the quarrel took place between gendarmerie officers who went to Karacadağ rural neighbourhood of Siverek district of Urfa to detain a person on a warrant and relatives of this person, in February 27, 2021.

It is claimed in the news coverage of February 28, 2021 that, after the police raid to the house of Burak Aysu, a member of Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) in Hacıbektaş district of Nevşehir, his sister had a miscarriage because of the stress and lost one of her twin babies.

It is learned from the news coverage of February 26, 2021 that, 2 members of Community Houses who were hanging posters in Izmir were taken to a police station and were subjected to be police informants, on February 23, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of February 28, 2021 that, 5 prisoners who were transferred from Kayseri Bünyan T Type Prison No 2 to Malatya Akçadağ T Type Prison under coercion on February 20, 2021, were subjected to physical violence of the correction officers for rejecting strip search at the entrance of prison.

The police prevented the press declaration of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) members gathering in Izmir on February 26, 2021, at Directorate of Turkish Post to send petitions demanding implementation of European Court of Human Rights verdict for former co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş to the Minister of Justice.

The police prevented the commemoration at the cemetery in Suruç district of Urfa on February 26, 2021, for journalist Rohat Aktaş and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Party Assembly member Mehmet Yavuzer who have lost their lives during the curfew in Cizre district of Şırnak. It is learned that upon police prevention, a press declaration was held outside the cemetery.

On February 28, 2021, 5 people (HDP Party Assembly member Abdullah İdiğ, HDP Nusaybin district co-chair Hevidar Dinç, Nesrin Çeçen, Mehmet Sait Sırdaş and Abdullah Ayav) are detained in house raids in Nusaybin and Kızıltepe districts of Mardin. Hevidar Dinç, Nesrin Çeçen, Mehmet Sait Sırdaş and Abdullah Ayav are released on the same day by the court on judicial control conditions, it is learned that Abdullah İdiğ is still under custody.
(03/009) Detained Members and Executives of Associations and Political Parties in Diyarbakır…
On February 27, 2021, 14 people including co-chairs of MEBYA-DER (Association of People Lost Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations) and executives of DBP and HDP are detained in house raids in Diyarbakır. It is learned that the investigation was under confidentiality order.
Some of the detained people are: MEBYA-DER co-chairs Yüksel Almas and Şehmus Karadağ, MEBYA-DER executive Zeki Dağ, DBP provincial executive Hatice Güneş, DBP Bağlar district executive Tahir Gül, HDP Kayapınar district co-chair Hanım Altındağ, HDP Bağlar district executive Fetullah Işıktaş, Murat Üzgün, Hafiz Işık, Peace Mother Hatun Aslan (71), Meyrem Soylu (79), Ayşe Çelikbilek, Muzaffer Ulaş.

Burak Aysu, a member of Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) is detained for the street writings “Ulaş Bardakçı is immortal” in Hacıbektaş district of Nevşehir, on February 28, 2021. Burak Aysu is released by the court.

On February 26, 2021, a person (Berivan Ado) is detained in a house raid in Kızıltepe district of Mardin. The reason of detention is unknown.

On February 26, 2021, 11 people are detained in house raids in Istanbul through an investigation on PKK. The names of detained people are unknown.
(03/013) Former Co-Mayor on Trial…
The trial of the case against Remziye Yaşar, suspended HDP co-mayor of Yüksekova district of Hakkari, is held at Hakkari Heavy Penal Court No 1 on February 26, 2021.
Remziye Yaşar joined the trial via sound and vision system. The court decided to continue detention of Remziye Yaşar and adjourned the trial to March 19, 2021.
Remziye Yaşar was detained on October 15, 2019 and was arrested on October 17, 2019. Ministry of Interior appointed a trustee to Yüksekova on October 19, 2019.
(03/014) The Case Against Former Co-mayor and Former DBP Co-chair…
Malatya Heavy Penal Court No 5 has sentenced Gültan Kışanak, former co-mayor of Diyarbakır, to 14 years and 3 months; and Sebahat Tuncel, former co-chair of Democratic Regions Party (DBP), to 15 years; and Penal Department No 18 of Antep Regional Court has reversed the verdict.
The retrial is held at Malatya Heavy Penal Court No 5 on February 26, 2021. Gültan Kışanak joined the trial via sound and vision system. The court decided to consolidate this case with another case against Gültan Kışanak at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5. The court ruled to continue detention of Kışanak and Tuncel and adjourned the trial to May 21, 2021.
(03/015) HDP Executive on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The final trial of the case against Mehmet Sayit Demir, a provincial executive of HDP, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on February 26, 2021.
After defence hearings the court sentenced Sayit Demir to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and to 5 months on the charge of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’.
(03/016) Association Executive on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The final trial of the case against Elif Haran, co-chair of Med Federation of Legal and Solidarity Associations of Prisoners’ Families (MED TUHAD-FED), is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 10 on February 26, 2021.
Elif Haran joined the trial via sound and vision system. After defence hearings the court sentenced Elif Haran to 6 years and 3 months on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’.
Elif Haran was detained on July 14, 2020 and was arrested on July 18, 2020. She was released by the court at the first trial held on November 6, 2020.
(03/017) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…
The final trial of the case against journalist Erk Acarer is held at is held at Istanbul Civil Court of First Instance No 18 on February 26, 2021. The case was opened upon criminal complaint filed by SADAT International Defence Consultancy company and the owner Adnan Tanrıverdi, for the news reports “SADAT in Army and Judicial Bodies”.
Erk Acarer and his lawyer did not attend the trial on excuse. The court sentenced Erk Acarer to pay a compensation of 10,000 Turkish Liras (5,000 Turkish Liras to the company and 5,000 Turkish Liras to Adnan Tanrıverdi) for immaterial damages.

Urfa Governorate made a declaration and announced that all meetings, demonstrations, marches, press declarations, sit-in protests, hunger strikes, opening stands and tents, collecting petitions, concerts, festivals, distributing leaflets, holding banners, carrying torches, conferences and so on are banned for 30 days as of February 26, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of February 28, 2021 that, the book “Onur Borcu – Debt of Honour” by Nurettin Demirtaş which was published by Belge Publishing House is banned to be published, distributed and sold and published books are ruled to be seized by Istanbul Penal Court of Peace.

The police raided the office of MEBYA-DER in Diyarbakır, through an investigation against the association and its members. It is learned that the police searched the office and seized some legal documents.

It is learned that the news reports about depilatory creams that costs millions which were produced by Turkish Coal Enterprise and were then gave away to public institutions, published on https://www.birgun.net, https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr, https://halktv.com.tr websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights, by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No 7 on February 26, 2021.

36 of 123 people who were detained through an Izmir based investigation are arrested by the court on February 27, 2021. 87 people are released provided that 71 of them will be on judicial control conditions.
(03/023) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 74 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 658 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on February 26, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 9,572.
The Ministry of Health declared that 71 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 621 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on February 27, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 9,193.
The Ministry of Health declared that 66 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and 610 new Covid-19 ill patients were diagnosed on February 28, 2021. It is also declared that the daily number of Covid-19 case is 8,424.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 28,569 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 2,701,588 as of February 28, 2021.
It is learned that laboratory technician Mehmet Tevfik Yardak in Mersin lost his life from Covid-19 on February 26, 2021.
It is learned that Emel Yaman, a health worker in Aydın lost her life from Covid-19 on February 27, 2021.
