(11/161) Allegation of Extrajudicial Execution in Hatay…

On November 25, 2025, it is claimed in the news coverage of November 25, 2025 that a Syrian citizen named Enes Gıyas Leyla lost his life due to police fire during a police raid to a house in Antakya district of Hatay on November 21, 2025. It is also claimed in the news reports that the police raided the wrong house and upon realizing this, the police left the house leaving Enes Gıyas Leyla wounded.

(11/162) Prisoner whose Release was Adjourned by Prison Administration and Monitoring Board…

On November 25, 2025 it is learned from the news coverage of November 25, 2025 that, the release of Mehmet Sait Yıldırım, a prisoner in Izmir Kırıklar F Type Prison No 1, who completed the execution of his life sentence on February 27, 2025, is adjourned for the second time for 9 months by Prison Administration and Monitoring Board (CİGK) on the grounds of ‘not being in good behaviour’ and ‘lack of remorse’.

(11/163) Preventions and Interventions to November 25 Protests…

Istanbul Governorate has decided to close the Taksim-Kabataş Funicular line, Taksim metro station of Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and Istiklal Street entrance of Şişhane station as of 15.00 on November 25, 2025.

13 people were detained by the police on the grounds of carrying LGBTI+ flags and banners after a march on Istiklal Street in Beyoglu district of Istanbul on November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The detainees were released the same day after statement procedures at the police.

During the march in Kocaeli, 1 person carrying LGBTI+ flag was detained by police intervention.

It is learned that people gathered at Fomara Square in Orhangazi district of Bursa were prevented from marching by the police.

(11/164) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The final hearing of the lawsuit filed on the grounds of journalist Fatih Altaylı’s remarks made during a social media broadcast was held at Istanbul 26th Heavy Penal Court on November 26, 2026. The court sentenced Fatih Altaylı to 4 years and 2 months for ‘threatening the President’ and decided to continue detention.

Fatih Altaylı was arrested on June 22, 2025.

(11/165) Indictment Against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Other People…

The indictment prepared by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office against 407 people, 105 of whom are arrested, including Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, was accepted by İstanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 40 on November 25, 2025.

The indictment demands Ekrem İmamoğlu to be sentenced for ‘establishing an organization to commit crime’ and various other crimes.

Ekrem İmamoğlu was arrested on March 23, 2025.

The final hearing of the lawsuit filed against director İlker Canikligil due to his remarks in a social media broadcast and 1 social media post was held on November 25, 2025 at Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance No 31. The court sentenced İlker Canikligil to 2 years and 2 months on the charges of ‘public incitement to hatred and hostility’ and ‘public incitement to commit a crime’ and deferred the announcement of the verdict.

İlker Canikligil was arrested on March 26, 2025 and was released at the first hearing of the case on May 7, 2025.

(11/167) Trans Woman on Trial in Ankara…

The final hearing of the lawsuit filed against trans woman Janset Kalan on the grounds of photos shared on 1 social media account, which were reportedly not hers, was held on November 25, 2025 at Ankara Criminal Court of First Instance No 48. The court sentenced Janset Kalan to 5 months imprisonment and 400 TL judicial fine for ‘obscenity’.

(11/168) District where Protests and Events are Banned…

Istanbul Beyoğlu District Governorate made a declaration on November 25, 2025 and banned all open-door meetings, demonstrations, press declarations, leaflet distribution, sit-in protests and similar events for 1 day as of November 25, 2025.
