It is learned from the news coverage of January 25, 2022 that, Murat Karataş, a prisoner in Hatay İskenderun M Type Prison was subjected to physical violence of the correction officers. It is also stated in the news reports that the correction officers saying “I will let you know me as your pain ends” and threatened Murat Karataş.
It is learned from the news coverage of January 25, 2022 that, in Şırnak T Type Prison, the heating systems in wards operate in low levels and irregularly, the prisoners are given hot water only 2 days a week, and prison commissary shopping which should be done every week, is allowed once in every two weeks.

It is learned from the news coverage of January 25, 2022 that, 5 prisoners (Mehmet Süleyman Uçağan, Turfan İlbaş, Hüseyin Karadaş and 2 more prisoners) in Tekirdağ F Type Prison No 2, are on indefinite hunger strike since January 17, 2022, as they have no security of life after suspicious death of Vedat Erkmen in prison.

İlhan Karakurt, Antalya provincial chair of the Union of All Municipality and Local Administration Employees (Tüm Bel-Sen) is detained in the union office on January 25, 2022. The reason of detention is his expressions in the press declaration which will be held on January 27, 2022, about the trial of the case against 48 people who had protested the governorate’s ban on a meeting of the Confederation of Public Employees’ Union (KESK) in 2016.

The final trial of the case against Elif Çetiner, former executive editor of Mezopotamya News Agency, is held at Hakkari Penal Court of First Instance No 2 on January 19, 2022.
The indictment demands sentence for Elif Çetiner on the charge of ‘following and recording private conversations without consent’.
After defence hearings the court sentenced Elif Çetiner to 1 year 8 months and 4 days.

The trial of the case against ill prisoner Devrim Ayık is held at Izmir Heavy Penal Court No 2 on January 25, 2022.
Devrim Ayık joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system. The court decided to continue detention of Devrim Ayık and adjourned the trial to April 8, 2022.

The retrial of the case against Dicle News Agency reporter Ramazan Akoğul, as the verdict of Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 4 was reversed by Diyarbakır Regional Court, is held on January 25, 2022. The court adjourned the trail to May 10, 2022.

The court sentenced Abdurrahim Şahin to 2 years and 1 month.

It is learned from the news coverage of January 25, 2022 that, a Halkın Günlüğü news portal executive editor Bahatitn Seçilir made his official statement in Istanbul through the investigation against him for the news report about Onur Gencer, who had organized an armoured attack on HDP’s Izmir office and killed Deniz Poyraz.

On January 25, 2022, 23 people are detained in operations covering 20 cities through an Ankara based investigation.

The Ministry of Health declared that 174 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 76,341 as of January 25, 2022.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 86,299 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 11,090,493 as of January 25, 2022.
