(03/190) Curfew in Cizre…

After the completion of the operations, the night-curfew in in Cizre district of Şırnak reached its 26th day as of 28 March 2016.

According to the news appeared in the press on 26 March 2016, one of the persons buried in Şanlıurfa was identified as health worker of Cizre Municipality Hacer Arslan (19).

Governorate of Şırnak announced on 28 March 2016 that night-curfew in Cizre and Silopi districts was decided to be started at 9.30pm and to be ended at 4.30 in the morning.

(03/191) Curfew in İdil…

The curfew in İdil district of Şırnak reached its 41st day as of 28 March 2016. The bodies of Vahap Çıkmaz and Abdulselam Güler were taken by their families. They were buried on 25 and 28 March 2016.

(03/192) Person Killed by the Police in Van…

On 28 March 2016, the police raided changing room of a football field in İpekyolu district of Van and reportedly shot an unidentified person to death.

(03/193) Curfew in Silvan…

Sub-Governorate of Silvan district in Diyarbakır imposed curfew in 18 quarters and villages starting from 11.00am on 25 March 2016. The curfew was lifted the same day at 8.00pm.

(03/194) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

According to the announcement on 25 March 2016, YPS members Nurullah Bozdoğan (Sinan Bagok) and Mehmet Reşit Alp (Bawer Nısebin) were killed during the clashes in Fırat and Dicle quarters of Nusaybin district in Mardin where curfew was imposed.

1 gendarmerie soldier was killed during an armed clash on 25 March 2016 in Nusaybin.

2 gendarmerie soldiers died and 5 soldiers were wounded when a preplaced bomb exploded on 27 March 2016 in a building on in Nusaybin.

1 police officer and 1 gendarmerie solider were killed, 5 police officers and 1 soldier were wounded during the armed clashes on 27 March 2016 in Nusaybin.

YPS members Mustafa Ekin (Sipan Amed), Davut Kurt (Reşit), Zeynel Abidin Oral (Zana), Habip Akar (Şervan Amed), Cudi Van, Yüksel Sümbül (Rojvar Arvin), YPS JIN member Tülay Eren (Arin Rojhat), and 3 unidentified persons were killed during the armed clashes on 27 March 20156 on the 14th day of curfew in Yüksekova district of Hakkari.

1 police officer died and 1 police officer was wounded during the same clash.

YPS member Zeydan Yanar reportedly died during armed clash that broke out on 25 March 2016.

YPS militant who was killed during a clash on 26 March 2016 in Nusaybin was identified as Ferhat Yaşa (Rızgar Amed).

YPS members Mahmut Surgit (Şervan Cudi), Mehmet Ünal (Diyar Cudi), Ceylan Sayar (Rengin Şerefxane), 1 police officer and 1 temporary village guard died, 1 police officer was wounded during an armed clash on 26 March 2016 in Şırnak.

2 militants were reportedly died and 2 soldiers were wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 25 March 2016 in the Amanos Mountains region of Kırıkhan district in Hatay.

3 soldiers were wounded when a bomb exploded on 28 March 2016 in Siverek district of Şırnak during the passage of a military vehicle.

First Lieutenant Erdem Keskin who was wounded during an armed clash in Yüksekova district of Hakkari died on 28 March 2016 in the hospital in Ankara.

(03/195) Pressures in Prisons…

According to the news appeared in the press on 26 March 2016, 9 prisoners incarcerated in Diyarbakır D-type Prison and Osmaniye T-type Prison were transferred to other prisons without their demand.

(03/196) Persons on Trial on the Allegations of Insulting the State President…

Mardin Penal Court of First Instance No 2 started on 25 March 2016 to hear the case against 12 persons including members of union for public servants KESK launched in connection with a demonstration organised on 11 October 2015 in Mardin to protest in the Ankara Massacre. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “insulting the State President”.

After the identification and testimonies of the present defendants, the court adjourned the hearing to 29 April 2016.

(03/197) Students on Trial in Bolu…

Bolu Penal Court of First Instance No 2 started on 25 March 2016 to hear the case against 38 students of Abant İzzet Baysal University launched in connection with a march organised on 15 May 2014 to protest in the killings of 301 miners in Soma district of Manisa. The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” and “resisting security forces”.

After the identification and testimonies of the present defendants, the court adjourned the hearing to 24 June 2016 for the completion of the testimonies.

(03/198) Newroz Celebrations…

The police conducted house raids on 26 March 2016 in Diyarbakır and detained 7 members of the organising committee of Newroz celebrations in Diyarbakır.

(03/199) Ban Decisions in İstanbul and Şanlıurfa…

According to the news appeared in the press on 28 March 2016, Governorate of İstanbul reportedly banned on 15 March 2015 all the public statements, demonstrations and activities in the province relying on the curfew imposed in Nusaybin district of Mardin.

Governorate of Şanlıurfa also announced on 28 March 2016 that all activities in the province were banned from 1 April 2016 to 6 April 2016.

(03/200) Protest Intervened in Ankara…

The police intervened members of Public Servants Front (Kamu Emekçileri Cephesi) who staged a protest against draft Law on Public Servants on 27 March 2016 in Ankara and detained 22 persons.

(03/201) Protest Intervened in İstanbul…

On 27 March 2016 in Beşiktaş district of İstanbul, the police intervened a group of union in health sector Dev Sağlık-İş members who were demanding staff position for subcontracted workers and detained 6 members of the union.

(03/202) Co-Mayor, Municipality Worker and Political Party Executive Convicted in Hakkari…

Hakkari Heavy Penal Court No 2 Concluded on 25 March 2016 to hear the case against 11 persons including Co-Mayors in Hakkari province Nurullah Çiftçi and Dilek Hatipoğlu, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair for Central district in Hakkari province İsmail Sihat Kaya, and Hakkari Municipality Bınevş Women’s Centre worker Hamide Özer launched on the allegations of “disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state”. The defendants were arrested after a public statement on self-governance.

The court sentenced Dilek Hatipoğlu, Nurullah Çiftç HDP and DBP members Hamide Özer, İsmail Sihat Kaya, İskan Aksaç, İlhan Kaynak, Ali Tetik and Devrim Ecer to 16 years’ imprisonment for “disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state”. Erdem Şahin and Cihan Kahraman were acquitted.

(03/203) Detentions and Arrests…

Deputy Mayor in Derik district of Mardin province Doğan Özbahçeci, municipality worker Alaattin Ecer, Seydoş Özbahçeci and Abdullah Ataklı were arrested on 25 March 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

İbrahim Poyraz who was detained in Derik district of Mardin, Suzan Paçal and Şahin Sağlam who were detained in Muş were arrested on 25 March 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Security Forces conducted house raids on 25 March 2016 in Binpınar village of Karaçoban district in Erzurum and detained Yılmaz Kökbalık on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

Co-Mayor of Kumçatı town in Şanlıurfa province Aziye Durak was detained on 25 March 2016 during a road control nearby Kasrik town.

Abdulkadir Mutlu who was detained in Viranşehir district of Şanlıurfa and Cengiz Yüksel who was detained in Bulanık district of Muş were arrested on 25 March 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raids on 25 March 2016 in Siirrt and detained 10 persons.

7 persons in Antalya, 3 children in Yüksekova district of Hakkari, Agit Şık in Silopi district of Şırnak, 4 persons in Derik district of Mardin were arrested on 26 March 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”. 4 persons in Şanlıurfa were also arrested on 26 March 2016 on the allegations of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”.

Cevdet Arga and Masum Koç, Peoples’ Democratic Party Co-Chairs in Buca and Konak district of İzmir Province, who were released after being detained were arrested on 26 March 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

HDP Chair for Kağızman district in Kars province Kemal Avcı was arrested on 28 March 2016 11 persons on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation” and “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raids on 28 March 2016 in Bozova district of Şanlıurfa and detained 11 persons on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”
