(07/174) Refugee/Asylum Seeker Who Lost Their Life in Van…
According to news reports on July 25, 2025, a refugee/asylum seeker, identified as an Afghan citizen, was found dead in front of a building under construction in the İpekyolu district of Van. The reports claim that the refugee jumped from the fifth floor of the building. The name of the refugee/asylum seeker has not been identified.
(07/175) Soldiers Who Lost Their Lives in Hatay…
According to news reports on July 26, 2025, two soldiers (Hayrullah Halit Karaman and Semih Erdoğan) stationed at the Naval Infantry Training Battalion Command in the İskenderun district of Hatay died due to multiple organ failure caused by excessive fluid loss and low sodium levels in the blood. The reports also stated that five other soldiers were receiving treatment in the hospital for the same reason.

According to news reports on July 28, 2025, the release of two prisoners, Resul Baltacı and Sinan Tutmaz, who were being held at Düzce T-Type Prison and had completed their prison sentences, was postponed by a decision of the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK).
According to news reports published on July 26, 2025, it was learned that Veysi Aktaş, an inmate held at İmralı Prison, whose life sentence was completed on April 28, 2024, was released on July 25, 2025, after his release was postponed three times by the CİGK.

On July 27, 2025, 12 people, including 5 children, who were members of the Van Youth Assembly of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and were detained while setting up a stand and distributing leaflets in Van, were released on the same day after being questioned by the police.
The names of those detained who have been identified are: A.Y.Y., S.A., A.T., G.D., B.B., S.E., H.K.

On July 27, 2025, readers of Kaldıraç magazine protested in front of the Istanbul Fair Center, where the 17th International Defense Industry Fair was being held, on the grounds that companies supplying weapons, military ammunition, and military technology to Israel were participating in the fair. Police and private security forces intervened in the protest. It was reported that those who participated in the protest were taken into custody and later released without any further detention.

On July 22, 2025, as part of an investigation into the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, three people were detained in Antalya. Two of them (Serken Temuçin and Tuncay Kaya) were arrested by the magistrate’s court on July 26, 2025. One person (Halil K.) was released under house arrest.

On July 28, 20125, following the finalization of a one-year, five-month, and 15-day prison sentence for “insulting the President” in a case filed against him, it was learned that Nurullah Efe, General President of the People’s Liberation Party (HKP), had his party membership and general presidency revoked by the Supreme Court of Appeals Prosecutor’s Office.

The Ministry of Interior announced on July 28, 2025, that proceedings had been initiated against 13 social media managers based on social media posts related to ongoing forest fires across Turkey.

According to news reports on July 27, 2025, the Hacettepe Queer Studies Group, which was active at Hacettepe University in Ankara, was closed by the university administration on the grounds that it had “engaged in actions and attitudes that disrupt social peace by violating religious, national, and social values” and “acted contrary to social harmony.”
