(08/156) Operations and Attacks…

The Ministry of National Defence announced that 1 soldier (Erkan Selçuk) died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants during the “Claw-Lock” military operation in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on August 25, 2023.

The Ministry of National Defence announced that 1 soldier (Taner Torun) died in a clash between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants during the “Claw-Lock” military operation in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on August 26, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 26, 2023 that 1 militant died in clashes between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Qandil area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government in June and 1 militant died in August, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 26, 2023 that, 3 militants died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in the rural areas of Silvan district of Diyarbakır.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 27, 2023 that, 1 militant died in clashes between Turkish Armed Forces units and HPG militants in Zap area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government in August, 2023.

(08/157) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Diyarbakır…

 

It is learned from the news coverage of August 26, 2023 that 6 shepherd including 1 child were detained by torture and ill-treatment during the military operation of the security forces in the rural areas of Yuva neighbourhood of Silvan district of Diyarbakır.

It is reported that the detainees were taken to Diyarbakır Gendarmerie Command and 1 child was released on the same day.

It is stated in the news reports that the detainees were restricted from lawyer visits for 24 hours.

Detained people are: Resul Demir, Meryem Saygı, Hüseyin Demir, Habip Demir, Sabahattin Demir, D. D. (9).

(08/158) Children Subjected to Physical Violence in Quran Course…

It is learned from the news coverage of August 27, 2023, that 20 children who were students in a boarding Quran course in Amasya were subjected to physical violence by two people named B. N., who did not have an official job in the Quran course, and T. D., who was assigned as a teacher aide in the course, on the grounds that they ate pita bread without permission. It is reported that B. N., who was detained in connection with the incident, was released on judicial control conditions, and T. D. was dismissed from their duty. The Governor of Amasya said in a statement that a judicial and administrative investigation has been launched.

(08/159) Meeting Request with Abdullah Öcalan Not Responded…

It is learned that the appeal made on August 25, 2023 to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by families and tutelary of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, and Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in Imralı Prison, in order to visit them was not responded.

(08/160) Police Intervention to Press Declaration in Istanbul…

The police intervened in the press declaration of Saturday Mothers/People held at the Galatasaray Square of Beyoğlu district of Istanbul on August 26, 2023, and detained 26 people including the Human Rights Association (HRA) co-chair Eren Keskin, the HRA Istanbul branch chair Gülseren Yoleri and the HRFT executive board member and Istanbul representative ümit Efe. It is learned that the police prevented journalists from recording the intervention. Detained people were released after statement procedures on the same day. Detained people were: Hanife Yıldız, Eren Keskin, Gülseren Yoleri, Mikail Kırbayır, Besna Tosun, İkbal Eren, Hüseyin Ocak, Hasan Karakoç, Ali Ocak, Oya Ersoy, Ümit Efe, Leman Yurtsever, Hünkar Yurtsever, Gülendam Özdemir, İsmail Yücel, Cüneyt Yılmaz, Davut Arslan, Begali Kurnaz, Koray Löker, Taylan Bekin, Deniz Aytaç, Hatice Onaran, Seyit Doğan, Emine Dayıoğlu and Aslı Takanay, Zehra Demir.

(08/161) Police Prevention to Support Declaration in for Saturday Mothers…

The police prevented the press declaration called by the HRA Van branch to be held in Van on August 26, 2023 to support Saturday Mothers/People, on the grounds of the governorate’s ban. The press declaration at the entrance of the HRA branch office as the group could not leave the building due to police prevention.

It is learned from the news coverage of August 27, 2023 that an investigation was launched against Alim Karaca, the Mayor of Fethiye district of Muğla, on the grounds of ‘violating the Turkish Flag Law’ for his name and the logo of the municipality were on the flags hung in the district.

Van Governorate’s Office made a declaration on August 25, 2023 and banned press declarations, sit-in protests, conducting surveys, opening stands and tents, collecting petitions, distributing leaflets, hanging banners, and so on for 2 days as of August 25, 2023.

(08/164) Ban of Access to Web Contents…

It is learned that the news report about the allegations of bribery and sexual assault in a nursery home in Erzurum, published on https://www.birgun.nethttps://www.veryansintv.com and https://tele1.com.tr websites were banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Erzurum Penal Court of Peace No. 2 on August 23, 2023. The news reports on the same subject were banned previously on the same grounds by Erzurum Penal Court of Peace No. 1 on August 14, 2023.

It is learned that 37 contents on several websites and social media accounts regarding the Court of Accounts were banned to access and ruled to be deleted on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No. 4 on August 24, 2023.

It is learned that the news reports about the people who were arrested on the grounds of committing physical violence against a child in Urfa, published on https://www.sozcu.com.trhttps://www.hurriyet.com.trhttps://www.ntv.com.tr websites were banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Urfa Penal Court of Peace No. 2 on August 25, 2023.

(08/165) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The Ministry of National Defence announced on August 25, 2023 that, 8 people were detained in alleged attempt to illegally flee to Greece.
