It is learned from the news coverage of November 24, 2022 that, Kemal Mutlum, an ill prisoner died in hospital on November 23, 2022.

(11/219) Police Suicide in Diyarbakır…

It is learned that a police officer named Mustafa Saygılı, in Silvan district of Diyarbakır, committed suicide on November 24, 2022.

(11/220) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of November 24, 2022 that, Yaprak Ökdemir was being kept in solitary cell in Kayseri Women’s Prison.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 25, 2022 that, in Edirne Prison, 16 prisoners were kept in a ward for 14 people. It is also stated in the news reports that a person who was in prison with her baby, could not meet the needs ordered from the prison infirmary which resulted in feeding problems.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 24, 2022 that, Yaprak Ökdemir, an ill prisoner in Kayseri Women’s Prison was not receiving medical treatment.

It is learned that the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) event for 25 November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to be held in Osmaniye was banned by Osmaniye Governorate’s Office on November 24, 2022.

It is learned that the march of Bursa Women’s Platform for the same cause was banned by Bursa Governorate’s Office.

It is learned that the application of Dersim Women’s Platform for an event in Tunceli on November 26, 2022 was rejected by Tunceli Governorate’s Office on November 25, 2022, on the grounds of 15-day ban of events.

(11/223) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration which was made within the scope of “I Want My Job Back Protest” in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on November 24, 2022 and forced people away from the monument by using physical violence.

(11/224) Detained SGDF Executives and Other People in Eskişehir…

It is learned that 7 people (Rezan Aras, Muhammed Topalan, Ali Okmak, Rewşan Gure, Hasan Mansur, Müslüm Koyun, Genco Aykut) including the Socialist Youth Associations’ Federation central executive board member Müslüm Koyun, are detained in house raids in Eskişehir. The reason for detention is unknown.

It is learned that 15 people are detained in house raids in Mersin on November 25, 2022. The names of detained people and the reason for detention are unknown.

(11/226) Journalist on Trial in Van…

The first trial of the case against journalist Oktay Candemir, on the grounds of insulting a public officer in a social media post, is held at Van Penal Court of First Instance No. 5 on November 24, 2022. After defence hearings the court adjourned the trial to January 17, 2023.

(11/227) HDP Executive on Trial…

The trial of the case against Sevim Akdağ, former member of the central executive board of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 8 on November 24, 2022. Sevim Akdağ joined the trial via sound and vision system from prison. After defence hearings the court decided to continue detention of Sevim Akdağ and adjourned the trial to February 16, 2023.

The final trial of the case against 33 defenders, on the grounds of protesting the Geothermal Power Plant construction in the Hacıbektaşlı village of Salihli district of Manisa, is held at Salihli Penal Court of First Instance No. 5 on November 24, 2022. The court sentenced 4 people to jail sentences from 6 months to 2 years and 4 months on the charges of ‘violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations’ and ‘insulting a public officer on duty’, and acquitted other defendants.

It is learned from the news coverage of November 24, 2022, that in the investigation regarding the suspicious death of Garibe Gezer in Kocaeli Kandıra F Type Prison No. 1 on December 9, 2021, Kocaeli Public Prosecutor’s Office decided non-prosecution on the grounds that “sufficient evidence could not be obtained to file a public lawsuit on the grounds of an intention or fault of any person in her death”.

It is learned that the news reports regarding Vogue Hotels, published on https://ifade.org.tr, https://www.haberturk.com, https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr, https://ilerihaber.org websites are banned and ruled to be deleted on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No. 4 on November 24, 2022.

It is learned that the news reports regarding the President’s former lawyer, published on https://halktv.com.tr, https://www.birgun.net, www.gazeteduvar.com.tr websites are banned and ruled to be deleted on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No. 4 on November 24, 2022.

It is learned that b.cdn.net website, which provides Content Distribution Network (CDN) service, is banned to access by the decision of the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BİK) on November 24, 2022.

(11/231) Ban of Events in Tunceli…

Tunceli Governorate’s Office made a declaration on November 24, 2022 that, press declarations, meetings and demonstrations, open-door meetings, protests, sit-ins, commemorations, opening stands, collecting petitions, concerts, festivals and so on are banned for 15 days as of November 24, 2022.

(11/232) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

It is learned that 7 people are detained in an alleged attempt to illegally cross abroad in Edirne on November 25, 2022.

(11/233) Trials in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

The decision trial of the case, which was reopened after the Court of Cassation overturned the verdicts in the case against 6 people, including former Istanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu and former Istanbul Police Chief Hüseyin Çapkın, is held on November 23, 2022. The court decided to acquit Hüseyin Avni Mutlu, Hüseyin Çapkın and another defendant, to sentence one defendant to 8 years, 1 month and 15 days for ‘being an illegal organisation member’ and to separate the files regarding 2 defendants.
