(06/153) Trans man subjected to physical violence by private security guards in Ankara…
On June 23, 2025, a transgender man entered a public building in Ankara accompanied by a private security guard to search for his missing cat. He was subjected to physical violence and detained after another private security guard stated, “You cannot enter; remove that person from here.”
News reports indicated that the transgender man was subjected to discriminatory treatment while in custody.
On June 24, 2025, the transgender man was referred to the criminal court and released on judicial supervision.

M.G., who was detained on June 24, 2025, following a protest held in front of the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse against the arrest of Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer of the Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor, was released by the magistrate’s court on the same day with a travel ban and a condition to sign in at the police station once a week.
(06/155) Persons on Trial in Ankara…
The final hearing of the trial of 32 persons detained during a police intervention in connection with an action held on the 9th anniversary of the Suruç Massacre was held on June 24, 2025, at the Ankara Criminal Court of First Instance No. 49. The court acquitted 30 individuals of the charge of violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911. Two individuals were sentenced to 6 months and 20 days in prison for the charge of “resisting the performance of duty,” and the court postponed the announcement of the verdict.

The trial of five prisoners (Cihan Gökalp, Hikmet Ataman, Hüseyin Atak, Metin Yılmaz, and Ramazan Kaya) held at Erzurum Dumlu No. 2 High-Security Prison, accused of damaging the fences in their cells, continued on June 24, 2025, at the Erzurum Criminal Court of First Instance No. 2. The indictment seeks to punish the prisoners for “damaging public property.” The court adjourned the hearing until July 8, 2025.

According to news reports on June 24, 2025, three people working at BELTUR A.Ş., affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and members of the Dev Turizm İş Trade Union, affiliated with DİSK, were dismissed from their jobs based on their private messages.

According to news reports on June 24, 2025, the phrase “Trans murders are political” written on a wall at the Bornova metro station in Izmir was covered with the phrase “We want more trans murders, AK Youth.”

It was reported that access to three news articles published on the websites https://onedio.com/, https://www.gazeteduvar.com.tr/, and https://www.hurriyet.com.tr/ regarding a district governor was restricted by the Erzurum Hınıs Peace Criminal Court on June 23, 2025, on the grounds of violating the privacy of private life.
