It is learned from the news coverage of April 24, 2023 that, 3 militants died in a clash between security forces and HPG militants in the rural areas of Mardin on March 12, 2023.

(04/190) Attack on Civilians in Şırnak…

It is learned that 1 civilian (H. Y.) died and 2 civilians were wounded in the armoured attacks on two houses in Aşağı Yavşan village of İdil district of Şırnak on April 24, 2023.

(04/191) Banned and Prevented Events in Ankara and İstanbul…

It is learned that the panel talk “Don’t forget, face it: 1915” about the Armenian Genocide, to be held by the Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK) on April 24, 2023 in Ankara was banned by the governorate’s office.

It is learned that the cine-vision show about the Armenian Genocide to be held by the Greens and Left Future Party (YSP) in front of the election campaign office in Fatih district of Istanbul on April 24, 2023 was prevented by the police and that the show was held inside the office.

(04/192) Police Intervention to March in Diyarbakır…

The police intervened in the march in Diyarbakır on April 25, 2023 to protest detention of politicians, journalists, lawyers, artists and other people through a Diyarbakır based investigation. The number of people detained could not be learned.

(04/193) 14 May 14, 2023 General Elections…

It is learned that at least 126 people including journalists, political party executives, lawyers and artists were detained in house raids in 21 cities through a Diyarbakır based investigation on April 25, 2023. It is reported that 10 journalists and 25 lawyers were among the detainees. The names of detained people learned so far are: Mezopotamya News Agency editor Abdurrahman Gök and reporters Ahmet Kanbal and Mehmet Şah Oruç, Jinnews reporter Beritan Canözer, Yeni Yaşam newspaper editor-in-chief Osman Akın, Xwebûn newspaper grant holder Kadri Esen, journalists Mehmet Yalçın, Mikail Barut, Salih Keleş and Remzi Akkaya, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-deputy chair for central organisation committee Özlem Gündüz, HDP central organisation committee co-spokesperson Mahfuz Güleryüz, Mehmet Öner, Halise Dakalı, Resul Temur, Pirozhan Karali, Muhittin Muğuç, Özüm Vurgun, Bünyamin Şeker, Fırat Taşkın, Zozan Acar, Büşra Eylül Özgültekin, Burhan Arta, Jiyan Sametoğlu, Metin Özbadem, Gurbet Özbey Öner, Adile Salman, Şerzan Yelboğa, Süleyman Şahin, Gülistan Ataş, Fırat Yıldız, Serhat Hezer, Kenan Anğay, Şirin Şen, Bahar Oktay, Berdan Acun, Havva Bildik, Halil Delen, Habat Mimkara, Devrim Demir, Yavuz Akkuzu, Özcan Ateş, Elvan Köçer Yıldırım, Sezen Mercan, Maria Öztopuz, Suat Mustafa Şenci, Veysel Moray, Hüsamettin Kılıç, Şehmus Karadağ, Semira Akkor, Faris Türk, Tarık Zafer Yazgan, Nurettin Bakan, Nasip Gültekin, Eşref Yaşa, Alattin Zuğurli, Hamdullah Zuğurli, Doğan Hatun, Rıfat Roni, Gani Alkan, Sezgin Bayram, Sena Özbey, Şahperi Alphan Bayhan, Sadettin İnal, Kibar Suvari, Velat Ersin, Kevve Çelik, Mahir Yıldız, Mesut Gever, Abdulvahap Irmak, Senar Fidancan and Mesut Baskın.

The police intervened in the election campaign stand of the YSP in Kadıköy district of Istanbul on April 25, 2023, on the grounds that people dancing and “preventing the passage”; and detained at least 20 people.

(04/194) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…

The final trial of the case against journalist Nazan Özcan, on the grounds of ‘insult’ and ‘slander’, upon complaint of a former lawyer of the President, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 34 on April 25, 2023. The court acquitted Nazan Özcan.

(04/195) Police Officers on Trial in Istanbul…

The trial of the case against 3 police officers (L. M., Canan B. and S. E. K.) for performing strip search on Mücella Yapıcı and Cansu Yapıcı, who were detained during Gezi Park protests in 2013, is held at Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No. 11 on April 25, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for defendant police officers at least 3 years up to 12 years on the charge of ‘torture’. The defendant police officers did not join the trial and the court adjourned the trial to October 5, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of April 24, 2023 that, Lice Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment against district police chief A. O. and police officers H. Ç., İ. A., E. Ö., G. B. regarding torture and ill-treatment against a 14-year-old child (Y. D.) in Lice district of Diyarbakır on March 21, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for defendant police officers on the charges of ‘deprivation of liberty’ and ‘damage to property’.

It is learned that the news reports about the book “SS” of Barış Terkoğlu and Barış Pehlivan, published on https://halktv.com.tr, https://www.diken.com.tr, https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr (2 news reports) and https://www.birgun.net websites and 1 social media post were banned and ruled to be deleted on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No. 5 on April 20, 2023.

(04/198) Police Raid to Publishing House in Diyarbakır…

It is learned that Aram Publishing House office in Diyarbakır was raided by the police on April 25, 2023 through a Diyarbakır based investigation, and digital material and published material found in the office were seized after the search. It is reported that the police left a note reading “Flash drives in every room, computer cases, the laptop and the cell phone on the desk are seized. Anti-terror department operation” instead of an official document about the search.

It is learned from the news coverage of April 24, 2023 that, 65 proceedings demanding lift of impunity of 42 parliamentary members are sent to the Grand National Assembly.

(04/200) Earthquakes in Antep and Maraş…

The Minister of Family and Social Services made a statement on April 24, 2023 and declared that a total of 1,914 unaccompanied children were registered in the system, 1,808 of them were identified and given to their families, 26 children were in the hospital, 71 children were in the institutions of the ministry, and 16 children could not be identified.
