(09/229) Operations and Attacks…

The Ministry of National Defence declared that 1 soldier (Faruk Eser) died in the military operation of Turkish Armed Forces in the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on September 25, 2021.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 25, 2021 that, 1 HPG militant died in an air operation of Turkish Armed Forces to Hakurk area of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government on June 22, 2021, and 1 militant died in a clash in rural areas of Şırnak on September 9, 2021.

(09/230) Attack on Deva Party Executive in Izmir…

It is learned that the personal car of Hakkı Sab, the Democracy and Progress Party (Deva) district chair in Kiraz district of Izmir, was subjected to an anonymous armoured attack on September 26, 2021. It is learned that nobody got hurt in the attack.

(09/231) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 26, 2021 that, 2 people (M. G. and İ. K.) who were stopped by the police in Arsuz district of Hatay on September 11, 2021; were kept there for a while despite of no detention warrant, and as they object to this they were put in the car by a police officer (B. Ö.) using physical violence, and verbal and physical violence kept going in the police car.

Haydar Gökpınar, the lawyer of M. G. stated the following to the press: “M. G. was kept waiting for about 40 minutes, his car licence was checked, a breath test was conducted and there was nothing wrong. When he asked ‘You have let everyone go after the identity check, with which suspicion did you keep us here?’, the police officer said ‘Why would I answer you, who are you?’ and tore his shirt while chocking him. Although my client stated that he has a heart disease, he and the other person (İ. K.) was battered and put in the car. There were 2 other police officers in the car with the officer B. Ö. As the car was not going towards the police station, my client asked where they were going. But the police officer got angry with this question and started to insult him. And said ‘The state gave this gun to me for something. I would unload it on you if I wish’ and put his gun to my client. After being kept for a while, M. G. and İ. K. were forced to apologize. And M. G. was forced to sign a document without reading it, in order to be released. And when he asked for a copy of this document, he was said ‘F… off’; and their identity cards were not given to them as M. G. and İ. K. were leaving the station. The police officer B. Ö. said ‘I am not giving your identity cards back, I know how to use them, I got many like you in trouble’ and continued to threaten them.”

(09/232) Person Forced to be a Police Informant in Tunceli…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 25, 2021 that, a person named Sefkan Kazan was forced to be a police informant in Tunceli.

Sefkan Kazan made a press declaration in the Human Rights Association (IHD) Tunceli branch, and stated the following: “I got a phone call on October 16, 2021 and someone called me to Tunceli Provincial Security Directorate. When I got there, 2 police officers put me in a white car with a licence plate 62 AE 781. They took me to Kutu creek in the Pülümür valley. The police asked me a few names (…) They asked me if I was a member of any political party, and I said I was not. Then they forced me to be a police informant (…) Then they asked whether I would come to have a cup of tea if they would call me again (…) Then they took me back to Provincial Directorate of Security.”

(09/233) Threat to Journalist in Batman…

It is learned from the news coverage of September 26, 2021 that, İdris Yayla, grant holder of Jiyan newspaper in Batman was threatened by anonymous persons who called them, and anonymous persons fired a gun up in the air.

İdris Yayla stated the following: “On September 3, I got a call from Greece on 01.45. They first messaged me, and then called. I asked ‘what are your comments?’ but they were ready to insult and threat. They wanted us to stop making news reports. And then threatened me, they said ‘We will cut your ear and kill you. And we will throw your body on the street. Quit the newspaper work, find an ordinary job’. On the same night, I heard five gunshots and went to the balcony, but could not see anyone. The next morning my neighbours told me that two people opened fire up in the air and ran away with a black car.”

It is learned from the news coverage of September 24, 2021 that, Nezir Katar was transferred from Şırnak T Type Prison to Rize Kalkandere L Type Prison under coercion.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 25, 2021 that, lawyer Engin Gökoğlu was transferred from Tekirdağ T Type Prison No 2 to Tekirdağ F Type Prison No 1.

(09/235) Police Intervention to “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Bolu…

The police intervened the “I Want My Job Back” protest in front of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) provincial office in Bolu on September 24, 2021 and detained 3 people (Ramazan Çelik, Salih Bitnel and Muhammet Akyıldız). Detained people are released after statement procedures on the same day.

(09/236) Detained People in Istanbul and Düzce…

On September 22, 2021, 7 people were detained through an Istanbul based investigation against Assembly of Resistances and the Association of Families of Prisoners (TAYAD) members. 7 people (Hasan Basri Yıldız, Mehmet Yücetepe, Selvi Polat, Hatun Polat, Feridun Osmanağaoğlu, Hasan Kocaman, Türkan Albayrak, Fahrettin Keskin, Turan Aktaş) are released by the court on house confinement on September 24, 2021.

(09/237) Detained Labour Party Executive in Malatya…

On September 24, 2021, the Labour Party district chair Tacettin Yaşar is detained by the gendarmerie raiding his house in Akçadağ district of Malatya on September 24, 2021. Tacettin Yaşar is released by the court on judicial control conditions on the same day.

(09/238) Detained Executives of Political Party and Association in Adana…

On September 21, 2021, 8 people were detained in house raids in Adana, Mersin and Siirt. 8 people including Adana Solidarity Association for Prisoners’ Families (ATUHAY-DER) executives Zakir Akalın and Sinan Balduz and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Çukurova district co-chair Yaşa Demir are released by the court on September 24, 2021, provided that 7 of them will be on judicial control conditions.

(09/239) DBP Co-Chair on Trial in Diyarbakır…

The trial of the case against the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair Salihe Aydeniz is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 4 on September 24, 2021.

A witness (H. B. A.) is heard at the trial, and the court decided to make a criminal complaint against HDP Diyarbakır MP Remziye Tosun, based on the witness’ statements on her. The court adjourned the trial to January 19, 2022.

(09/240) Police Officers on Trial in Istanbul…

The first trial of the case against 3 police officers (K. A., N. D. and Y. Ş.) on the grounds of committing violence to journalist Beyza Kural while she was reporting on an incident, is held at Istanbul Penal Court of Peace No 3 on September 24, 2021.

The indictment demands sentence for the defendant police officers on the charge of ‘violation of freedom of work and labour’. The Constitutional Court decided on Beyza Kural’s individual appeal on February 18, 2021 and ruled that ban of treatment against human dignity, and freedom of expression and freedom of press were violated. The court has also ruled that an investigation should be carried on in order to end the results and 15,000 Turkish Liras should be paid to Beyza Kural as immaterial compensation.

The court adjourned the trial to December 10, 2021.

The “Peace and Democracy” concert organised by the Human Rights Association (IHD) Hatay branch in Defne district, is banned by Defne Sub-Governorate on the grounds of Covid-19 pandemic on September 25, 2021.

It is learned that Etkin News Agency’s website www.etha23.com is banned to access on the grounds of “protection of national security and public order” by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No 5 on September 24, 2021.

It is learned that Jinnews Agency’s website https://www.jinews38.xyz, is banned to access on the grounds of “protection of national security and public order” by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No 1 on September 24, 2021.

It is learned that the news reports about a tender of Gercüş Municipality published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr, https://ilerihaber.org, https://www.evrensel.net websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights, by Batman Gercüş Penal Court of Peace on September 24, 2021.

It is learned that the news reports about ban of access to the news about ban of access to ban of access to the news reports about a tender won by Bilal Erdoğan’s friend, published on https://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr, https://www.diken.com.tr, https://halktv.com.tr websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Istanbul Anadolu Penal Court of Peace No 7 on September 24, 2021.

(09/243) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On September 24, 2021, 35 people are detained in operations covering 19 cities through an Ankara based investigation; 43 people are detained in Ordu and 1 person is detained in Afyon.

(09/244) Covid-19 Pandemic…

The Ministry of Health declared that 260 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 29,338 as of September 24, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 242 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 28,168 as of September 25, 2021.

The Ministry of Health declared that 217 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 27,844 as of September 26, 2021.

The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 63,669 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 7,021,039 as of September 26, 2021.

On September 24, 2021, doctor Cevat Güralp in Istanbul lost his life due to Covid-19.

On September 25, 2021, Hacı Ömer Çınar, a health worker in Adana lost his life due to Covid-19.

On September 26, 2021, 3 health workers (doctor Ali Sayan in Izmir, pharmacist Nurullah Atasoy in Ankara, and Adem Demir in Urfa) lost their lives due to Covid-19.

It is learned from the news coverage of September 26, 2021 that, 3 prisoners in Istanbul Maltepe L Type Prison No 1 tested positive for Covid-19.
