According to news reports published on July 27, 2026, it was learned that a prisoner named Aydın Oğuz, who is being held at the Giresun Espiye Type L Prison and who broke his leg during a sports activity on July 19, 2026, was not transferred to a hospital because he refused to undergo an oral cavity search.

According to news reports published on July 27, 2026, it was learned that the release of Nidai Tezer, an inmate held at the Samsun Kavak S-Type Prison who had completed his life sentence, was adjourned for 12 months by the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK).

As part of an Ankara-based investigation targeting the Çankaya Municipality, three individuals were detained in Istanbul on July 22, 2026. Of these, two—including Hasan Karabulut, Deputy Mayor of Eyüp—were arrested by the magistrate’s court to which they were referred on July 24, 2026, while one person was released under judicial supervision.

On July 23, 2026, two individuals—Botan Uğan and Şahin Şerifoğlu—were detained in the Cizre district of Şırnak on allegations of “being a member of an organization.” On July 25, 2026, they were released by the magistrate’s court to which they were referred, subject to judicial control measures including a ban on leaving the country and a requirement to sign in regularly.

Esra Gürbüz, who was detained as part of an investigation launched by the Elazığ Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office on the grounds that she used “insulting language against the religious values of society” in a social media post, was released on July 25, 2026, by the magistrate’s court to which she was referred, subject to judicial control measures including a travel ban and a requirement to sign in regularly.

According to news reports on July 24, 2026, a trans woman in Istanbul was subjected to physical violence by unidentified individuals while sleeping on a metrobus she was traveling on, and the attackers recorded the incident on a cell phone.

Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet, the mayor of the İzmit district in Kocaeli, who was arrested on July 23, 2026, was removed from office by the Ministry of the Interior on July 24, 2026.
