On 24 October 2024, 5 civilians died and 22 people including 12 police officers and 10 civilians were wounded in an armed attack on the facility of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) in the Kazan district of Ankara. Ministry of Interior announced that 2 militants who carried out the attack died. The names of the people who lost their lives are Zahide Güçlü, Cengiz Coşkun, Hasan Hüseyin Canbaz, Atakan Şahin Erdoğan, and Murat Aslan.

It is learned from the news coverage of 24 October 2024 that a branch of a coffee chain in the Muratpaşa district of Antalya was attacked with Molotov cocktails by an anonymous person. No casualties were reported.

It is learned from the news coverage of 23 October 2024 that, Fatma Tokmak, a seriously ill prisoner in Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison, was sentenced to solitary confinement for 10 days as a result of a disciplinary proceeding initiated by the prison administration for the notes she kept.

It is learned from the news coverage of 23 October 2024 that, Kıymet Ilgaz, an ill prisoner in Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison was not taken to hospital for rejecting to be examined in handcuffs.

It is learned from the news coverage of 23 October 2024 that, the release of 15 prisoners in Istanbul Bakırköy Women’s Prison was postponed for 1 year by the decision of the Prison Administration and Observation Board (CİGK), although they completed the execution of their prison sentences between August and October 2024.

It is learned that the appeal made on October 24, 2024, to the chief public prosecutor’s office in Bursa by lawyers in order to visit their clients PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, Ömer Hayri Konar, Hamili Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş in İmralı Prison was not responded.

On 23 October 2024, the police intervened against the press statement in front of Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse for the closure of Y and S type prisons and detained 2 people (Hasan Basri Yıldız and Ayşe Lerzan Conde). The detainees were released the same day after statement procedures at the police.

On 24 October 2024, 2 people (Harun Toktaş and Agit Bozkurt) were detained in house raids in Manisa on the allegations of shouting slogans during Newroz celebrations.

The final trial of the case against Dicle Müftüoğlu, co-chair of Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) and editor of Mezopotamya Agency (MA), was held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 5 on October 24, 2024. The court acquitted Dicle Müftüoğlu on the charges of ‘establishing and leading an illegal organization’ and ‘being a member of an illegal organization’.
Dicle Müftüoğlu was arrested on 3 May 2023 and released at the hearing of the case held on 29 February 2024.

Lawyer Dilek Ekmekçi, who was released from the case against her on the grounds of ‘being a member of an illegal organization’ through her social media posts, at the hearing of Istanbul Heavy Penal Court No 24 on October 22, 2024, was arrested again on October 23, 2024 upon the prosecutor’s objection to the release decision. It is also stated in the news reports that Dilek Ekmekçi was ordered to be kept under observation in a Psychiatric and Nervous Diseases Hospital.
Lawyer Dilek Ekmekçi was arrested on 2 September 2024 on charges of ‘insulting a public official’ and ‘slander’.

It is learned from the news coverage of 23 October 2024 that bandwidth restrictions were imposed on social media platforms X, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Telegram following the armed attack against the TUSAŞ facility in Kazan, Ankara. It was reported that the restriction was lifted on 24 October 2024.

On 23 October 2024, 12 people were detained in operations covering 3 cities through an Istanbul based investigation on the allegations of ‘using ByLock’ and ‘staying in illegal organization houses’.
