It was reported that on June 24, 2026, during a clash that erupted in a home raid in the Haymana district of Ankara, a person named M.K.—reported to be a militant—was killed, while his wife, N.K., who was in the house, was injured.
(06/154) Torture and Other Ill-Treatment in Custody in Ankara…
According to news reports published on June 24, 2026, it was learned that a person named C.D., who was detained in Ankara on June 23, 2026, was subjected to torture and other ill-treatment while in custody. The report also noted that a lawyer who intervened to prevent his client from being subjected to torture and other ill-treatment was herselfsubjected to physical violence by the police. It was reported that lawyers from the Ankara Bar Association, who came to the Ankara Provincial Police Department to prepare a report on the matter, were not allowed inside for some time.
In a statement published in the press regarding the matter, attorney Nilüfer Irmak Özkan said the following: “While walking with my client to the interrogation room for questioning, a TEM police officer said, ‘Walk faster—do you have eggs under your feet? Are we going to have to deal with you?’ and grabbed my client by the arm and threw him down the stairs. As I said, ‘What are you doing? Don’t touch my client,’ they quickly spun me around, grabbed me by the back, and shoved me outside. Another lawyer colleague of mine was giving a statement at that moment, so I ran over to her side.”

According to news reports published on June 24, 2026, it was learned that a person named Toprak Akdoğan, who was inside a home during a raid in the Gülsuyu neighborhood of Istanbul’s Maltepe district, was subjected to torture and other ill-treatment by the police and sustained injuries to various parts of his body.

It was reported that members of the Education Sen union, who sought to leave a black wreath at the Provincial Directorate of National Education in protest of police interventions against demonstrations organized by members and executives of the Private Sector Teachers’ Union in Ankara, were blocked by the police.

The trial of 44 individuals, initiated at the Izmir Criminal Court of First Instance No. 28 as part of an investigation into the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, continued on June 24, 2026. The indictment seeks the conviction of the 44 individuals on charges of “tampering with a public tender.”
The court ruled to maintain the judicial control measures against the defendants and adjourned the hearing until October 30, 2026.

According to news reports on June 23, 2026, it was learned that access to the X social media account belonging to the Fırat News Agency and the Instagram account belonging to Nujin Media had been restricted.
According to news reports on June 24, 2026, access to 12 LGBTI+-focused platforms and their associated applications was blocked by a decision of the Istanbul 5th Criminal Court of Peace dated June 12, 2026.

On June 23, 2026, 15 people were detained in Kocaeli on the grounds that they were members of the organization’s educational structure.
