(07/261) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned that 1 soldier who was wounded in a military operation on July 10, 2018, in Hakkari died on June 23, 2018.

It is learned that 4 soldiers were injured due to rollover of a patrol car into a ditch near Bağgöze village of Siirt on July 23, 2018.

(07/262) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…

It is learned from news coverage of July 23, 2018 that, Mehdi Boz, an ill prisoner in Elazığ T Type Prison, is prevented from visits because he rejected to carry ID card; and he cannot use phone call rights due to disciplinary penalties given to him.

Journalist Seda Taşkın, who is kept in Ankara Sincan Closed Prison, stated in her commentary on news coverage of July 23, 2018 that, prison administration set quotas for hot and cold water supplied to wards, and that the amount of water is not enough even for basic needs.

(07/263) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling for a while to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on July 23, 2018 at 13.30 and 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on July 23, 2018, 2 people (Mehmet Dersulu and Gülnaz Bozkurt) and at 18.00 2 people (Acun Karadağ and Mehmet Dersulu) were detained.

Thus in total 4 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on July 23, 2018. It is learned that detainees were released the same day.

(07/264) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Istanbul…

The police intervened into the press declaration of public labourers to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, at Bakırköy Square in Istanbul; and detained 3 people (Ali Erdoğan, Nursel Tanrıverdi, Selvi Polat).

(07/265) Person Detained for ‘Insulting the President’ in Kayseri…

It is learned from news coverage of July 23, 3018 that, a person named M. D. (59),  who was traveling on a municipality bus, was detained by the police, based on an informing that he ‘insulted the President’.

(07/266) HDP MP’s on Trial…

The case against HDP Antalya MP Kemal Bülbül, on Ankara Heavy Penal Court No 15 is held on July 23, 2081. The court decided to end the proceeding on Kemal Bülbül due to legislative immunity as a MP; and to lift juridical control conditions on him.

(07/267) Detentions and Arrests in Alleged Link to Coup Attempt…

On July 23, 2018, 4 people allegedly in attempt to flee in illegal ways, are detained in Edirne.
