It is learned from the news coverage of February 23, 2023, that Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation against journalist Seyhan Avşar, for the news reports about Ahmet Güreşçi who died as a result of torture and ill-treatment in Hatay.

It is learned that the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Nusaybin former district co-chair Şiyar Koç is detained in a house raid in Nusaybin district of Mardin on February 23, 2023.
(02/204) Writer on Trial in Tunceli…
The trial of the case against writer Cafer Solgun, over his statements about Nazimıye district governor, is held at Tunceli Nazımiye Penal Court of First Instance on February 24, 2023. The indictment demands sentence for Cafer Solgun on the charge of ‘insulting a public official’. Cafer Solgun did not join the trial. The court adjourned the trial to May 27, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of February 23, 2023 that, the Penal Department No. 2 of Istanbul Regional Court concluded on the appeal of the 10 months of prison sentence given to writer Erol Mütercimler, on the charge of ‘publicly degrading a section of the public on the basis of social class, religion, sect, gender, region difference’ for his expressions in a television programme about religious vocational high schools, and that decided to acquit Erol Mütercimler.
