(12/235) Village Guard Died in Şırnak…
It is learned from the news coverage of December 25, 2022 that a village guard named Nezir Akpınar died after being shot by another village guard Müslim Akpınar in Gundê Haso village of İdil district of Şırnak.
(12/236) Torture and Ill-Treatment Under Custody…
It is learned from the news coverage of December 26, 2022 that, a person named Savaş Çelik who was announced by the Ministry of Interior on July 20, 2022 as “he was detained by the National Intelligence Organisation abroad and was brought to Turkey”, was detained in Lebanon, given to the Turkish authorities on April 24, 2022 and was subjected to torture and ill-treatment until July 20, 2022 in an unknown place he was taken to. It is stated in the news reports that, Savaş Çelik who was visited by his lawyer in Erzurum High Security Prison and told that he was kept in a dark and narrow place where he was constantly beaten, tied to chains on the walls at his hands and feet, electrified at hands, feet, kidneys and genitals, a baton was inserted in the breech which was then inserted to the mouth, nose and ears, he was not allowed to toilets and was forced to urinate and defecate where he was kept, he was threatened by his wife and children. It is also learned that the investigation file of Muş Public Prosecutor’s Office involves an official report which states that Savaş Çelik was detained during a road check in Muş province.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 24, 2022 that, an ill prisoner named Emin Gurban in Kocaeli Kandıra F Type Prison was transferred to Konya Ereğli High Security Prison on December 16, 2022 under coercion although he was under treatment at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.
(12/238) Police Intervention to a Protest in Istanbul…
The police prevented the group gathering in front of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Istanbul office on December 23, 2022 to protest detention of 14 people including the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chair in 9 cities through a Diyarbakır based investigation; and detained 1 person (Rojhat Işıktaş) on the grounds of slogans chanted. It is learned that the police prevented journalists from recording the intervention.

It is learned that the police prevented the “Blue Vests” march of the Democracy and Progress Party (DEVA) members to be held in Sur district of Diyarbakır on December 25, 2022 on the grounds of lack of permit of the district governorate’s office.
(12/240) MP on Trial in Diyarbakır…
The trial of the case against HDP Siirt MP Meral Danış Beştaş on the charges of ‘being an illegal organisation member’, ‘inciting the public to unlawful meetings and demonstrations’, ‘participating in unlawful meetings and marches’ and ‘publicly inciting to commit a crime’ is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No. 8 on December 23, 2022. The court decided to send a writ to Ankara Heavy Penal Court No. 22 to consolidate the case with the Kobanê Case.

The first trial of the case against HDP Çelikhan district co-chair Hüseyin Uzun, on the grounds of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ is held at Adıyaman Heavy Penal Court No. 2 on December 23, 2022. Hüseyin Uzun joined the trial from prison via sound and vision system. The court decided to acquit Hüseyin Uzun who was arrested on October 27, 2022.

It is learned from the news coverage of December 25, 2022, that HDP Istanbul MP Zeynel Özen was banned from leaving the country by the order of the Ministry of Interior.
(12/243) Interior Ministry Declaration on Deported Asylum Seekers…
The Presidency of Migration Management of Ministry of Interior made a declaration on December 23, 2022 and stated that 3,928 asylum seekers who wanted to enter Turkey between December 16-22, 2022 were caught and 4,340 asylum seekers in the country were deported. In addition, it is stated that since January 1, 2022, 274,311 asylum seekers have been prevented from entering the country, 119,817 refugees have been forcibly deported, and a total of 18,776 asylum seekers are held in repatriation centers.

It is learned that the news reports about Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality which is administrated by a trustee, published on https://sendika.org/, https://ilerihaber.org/ and https://medyascope.tv/ websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Diyarbakır Penal Court of Peace No. 5 on December 23, 2022.
It is learned that the news reports about torture allegations on a police officer at the Anti-Terror Department of Ankara Provincial Security Directorate published on https://ankahaber.net/ and https://t24.com.tr/ and social media posts regarding the allegations websites are banned to access on the grounds of violation of personal rights by Ankara Penal Court of Peace No. 6 on December 23, 2022.
