(11/228) Torture and Ill-Treatment in Prison…
It is learned from the news coverage of November 22, 2021 that, a person who visited a prisoner in Istanbul Silivri L Type Prison No 3, was forced to strip search at the entrance and fainted during search. It is also stated in the news reports that, prisoners were forced to carry an identity card reading “terror” on themselves when they leave their wards and to give an oral report in military style before they have a phone conversation with their families.
It is learned from the news coverage on November 22, 2021 that, in Istanbul Silivri L Type Prisons No 4 and 5, prisoners are not given hot water on a regular basis and the heating do not work.
(11/229) Police Intervention to a Protest in Diyarbakır…
The police intervened the press declaration for 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, paganized by Women’s Platform of the Confederation of Public Employees’ Unions (KESK) in Diyarbakır on November 23, 2021. It is learned that nobody was detained, and the police prevented journalists from recording the declaration which was held despite of intervention.

The final trial of the case against journalist Nurcan Yalçın, through an investigation against Rosa Women’s Association, is held at Diyarbakır Heavy Penal Court No 9 on November 22, 2021.
The court sentenced Nurcan Yalçın to 3 years 7 months and 27 days on the charges of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ and ‘aiding an illegal organisation’.

The trial of the case against lawyer Zafer Çellik is held at Tunceli Heavy Penal Court No 1 on November 22, 2021.
After defence hearings the court decided to release Zafer Çellik and adjourned the trial.
Zafer Çellik was arrested on the charge of ‘being an illegal organisation member’ on April 1, 2021.

On November 22, 2021, 1 person is detained in Edirne in an alleged attempt to illegally cross abroad.
(11/233) Covid-19 Pandemic…
The Ministry of Health declared that 193 people died due to Covid-19 pandemic and the daily number of Covid-19 cases is 24,856 as of November 22, 2021.
The death toll from Covid-19 in Turkey increased to 75,235 and total number of confirmed ill patients is 8,596,410 as of November 22, 2021.
It is learned that 3 health workers (doctor Şerafettin Boyacı in Çorum, doctor Nizar Türker in Trabzon and nurse Işıl Dalgın in Izmit) died due to Covid-19 on November 22, 2021.
