Burhan Karışık, Mayor of Erdek, was assaulted on March 23, 2023 while he was going out of municipality building and injured from his leg. It is learnt that a M. T. is detained related with this assault.
(03/205) Child Subjected to Torture and Other Ill Treatment…
It is leant that on March 23, 2023, Diyarbakır Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation about a child named Y. D. (14, m) being subjected to torture and ill treatment by people who are allegedly police officers.
Also Diyarbakır Lice Public Prosecutor’s Office called family and lawyer of Y. D. on March 23, 2013.

6 people (Mesut Bağcık, Berivan Kızıltepe, Şurzan Jiyan Pehlivan, Fermandar Kardeş, Mehmet Özdemir ve Seyit Remzi Güneş) who were detained in Diyarbakır due to a notice about them were released on March 23, 2023.
(03/207) Journalist on Trial in Istanbul…
The trial of the case against Nazan Özcan, the former Editorial Director of Bianet, on the charge of “publicly degrading and slander” by the news about the lawsuits filed for the news reports about the former lawyer of the President is held at İstanbul Penal Court of First Instance No. 34 on March 23, 2023. Court adjourned the trial to April 25, 2023.
(03/208) Journalists and Other People on Trial in Ankara…
The trial of the case against 49 people who were detained by the police at the city entrance of Ankara where they have come to participate in a protest demanding housing rights on December 12, 2021; is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No. 15 on March 23, 2023. It is learned that the testimony of 2 police officers were taken at an interim hearing without the presence of the defendant lawyers. The court has rejected the lawyers’ request to rehear the testimony of 2 police officers at the court room and adjourned the trial to September 20, 2023.
(03/209) Case About the Attack to Cemevi in Ankara…
The trial of the case against 3 people for the attack against a Cemevi and 2 Alevi institutions in Ankara on July 30, 2022 is held at Ankara Penal Court of First Instance No. 15 on March 23, 2023. A. O.. K. participated the trial via SEGBIS. Court decided to continue the detention of A. O.K. and adjourned the trial to April 17, 2023.
(03/210) Uğur Kurt Case…
The Constitutional Court’s (AYM) decision dated December 1, 2022 regarding death of Uğur Kurt is published in the Official Gazette on March 22, 2023. Uğur Kurt had lost his life at a Cemevi in Okmeydanı on March 14, 2014 as a result of police fire. The court stated that “the material and procedural aspects of the right to life, which is guaranteed in Article 17 of the Constitution, are violated, and the family of Uğur Kurt will be paid 90,000 Turkish Liras for non-pecuniary damages. The court also ruled that 2 police officer who had been fined 12.000 TL on the grounds of reckless killing, will be re-tried.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 23, 2023 that Constitutional Court rejected the request of HDP for the trial of the closure case to be postponed to post-election and decided that HDP will make its defence on April 23, 2023.

It is learned from the news coverage of March 23, 2023 that the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTUK) issued Halk TV channel with a broadcasting ban for 5 days and administrative fine, on the grounds of the presentation of Selahattin Demirtaş’, former CO-Chair of HDP, latest book; FOX TV and Tele1 channels with an administrative fine.

It is learnt that an election communication office of HDP in Bahçelievler district of İstanbul was attacked by anonymous people on March 23, 2023 and that there is material damage in the office.
