(07/261) Operations and Attacks in Southeast…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 22, 2019 that, 5 civilians including children got wounded due to a rocket fired from Serêkaniyê district of Syria hitting a house in Ceylanpınar district of Urfa. The names of wounded people are: İ.I. (17, m), E.A. (9, m), Ali Işık (21), Hatice Atan (31), Yusuf Atan (38). It is reported that Syrian Democratic Forces ruling over Serêkaniyê declared that some people are detained in relation to the incident.

(07/262) Torture and Ill-Treatment Under Custody in Diyarbakır…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 22, 2019 that Ahmet Yoldaş, who was detained in a house raid on July 21, 2019 in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır where a person named Mücahit Yılmaz died; was subjected to torture and ill-treatment under custody. It is stated in the news reports that Ahmet Yoldaş fainted due to torture and ill-treatment and was taken to Diyarbakır Army Hospital.

It is reported that Birsen Yoldaş, another person detained in the house raid, was still kept in Anti-Terror Department of Diyarbakır Security Directorate.

IYI Party’s Güngören district chair Ayhan Kurt was attacked by a group of 6 in front of his shop on July 22, 2019. It is learned that 6 people (names unknown) are detained in relation to the attack.

(07/264) Prevention of Right to Health in Prison…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 22, 2019 that prisoners in Buca F Type Prison No 2 were referred to hospitals with delay. It is also reported that prisoners who were taken to hospital were subjected to right violations and were brought back to prison without being treated.

(07/265) Police Intervention Against “I Want My Job Back” Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the press declaration of public labourers who had been dismissed by a state of emergency decree and have been struggling 986 days to regain their jobs, intended to be held in front of Human Rights Monument in Yüksel Street on July 22, 2019 at 13.30, and at 18.00.

It was reported that during police intervention against the press declaration which was planned to be held at 13.30 on July 22, 2019, 2 people (Mehmet Dersulu and Nazan Bozkurt) and at 18.00 2 people (Acun Karadağ and Nazan Bozkurt) were detained.

Thus in total 4 people were detained due to press declaration intended to be held in Yüksel Street on July 22, 2019. It is learned that detainees were released on the same day.

(07/266) Police Intervention Against a Protest in Ankara…

The police intervened the protestors in front of Çankaya Public Health Directorate on July 22, 2019, who rally to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees, and detained 2 people (Mahmut Konuk and Cemal Yıldırım). It is learned that 2 people were released the same day.

Nursel Tanrıverdi and Selvi Polat who make a sit-in protest at Bakırköy Square on July 22, 2019, to regain their jobs from which they had been dismissed by state of emergency decrees are detained by the police intervening the protest. It is learned that 2 people were released after statement procedures.

(07/268) Detained DTK Members in Bingöl…

8 members of Democratic Society Congress (DTK) and Democratic Islam Congress (DIK) are detained in house raids in Bingöl on July 22, 2019. The reason of detention is unknown. The names of detained people are: Mehmet Zeki Ergül, Erdal Evren, Mehmet Özdemir, Ahmet Erdoğmuş, Asiye Ülker Kılıç, Asıf Yanılmaz, Özkan Candan and Hatice Kavran.

Professor Füsun Üstel who was put in prison on May 8, 2019, after approval of the 1 year and 3 months’ sentence given to her on the charge of ‘making propaganda for an illegal organisation’ for signing the petition “We will not be a party to this crime!” is released from prison upon her lawyers’ appeal.

(07/271) Proceedings Against Parliamentary Member…

It is learned from the news coverage of July 22, 2019 that, the proceedings against Republican People’s Party (CHP) chair Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, on the grounds of insulting the President, are submitted to the Constitution and Justice Committee of the Grand National Assembly, demanding lifting of legal impunity.
